October – The Month of the Rosary
During the month of October all classes have been asked to participate in The Rosary Challenge. We are invited to pray a decade of the rosary each day. We talked about the Rosary in assembly and were able to show a very special rosary gifted to the school by Briar and Casey’s mum and dad after a trip to Rome and the Vatican City. Thank You!
Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes and St Patrick’s Church
We were delighted to celebrate mass with our parishioners. We are so proud of all our pupils, it was such a joy to see them participate in the mass, demonstrating faith and being respectful. Thank You so much to Fr Erasmus and all at our Auchinleck parish for having us.
Visits to P7
Primary 7 have been visited by Mr Boyle from St Joseph’s Academy and Mrs Ferguson from Robert Burns Academy. Our transition planning with our secondary schools begin when pupils are in P6. Staff begin to have conversations ahead of a full programme for P7.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service worked with P7 to introduce them to CPR. A life saving skill. We hope none of our pupils ever find themselves in a position of having to do this but we know that if faced with someone requiring it they would be able to stay calm and put their knowledge and skills to the test.
Diocesan Youth Team
Fr Kevin and Margaret came into school and spoke to all P5 – P7s about the upcoming opportunities within the diocese. These events are open to all young people regardless of following any faith group or none. There are bursaries available to ensure that any young person wanting to participate can. Please see the information for upcoming events and a letter detailing how to apply for financial support.
School Photographs
Thank You so much to Pulze Photography for the amazing photographs of your children. I’m sure you’ll agree that the photographs are beautiful. We are also indebted to Robbie for the new headshots of staff. These can be found on our updated meet the team board at the front of the school and on the blog page.
Wednesday Parent Support Group
We have opened a space within the school for parents to meet for a cuppa and a chat on Wednesday afternoons. Space is open from 2pm. There is no agenda, no school staff – just a safe space for parents and carers to get together and discuss the challenges and successes of parenting. We hope some of you will make use of this time and space. Depending on what you what you want, we can arrange for people to come and provide workshops, wellbeing support, financial advice … or simply leave it as a space and time to breath and pause for a bit.
Pupil Progress Meetings
Pupil progress meetings take place on Thursday in the school hall. For those of you who are new to the school, you simply come along at your appointment time. All staff will be in the hall. We will have P7s on hand to help out.
Parent Council
Our fabulous Parent Council met again last week to firm up arrangements for the Halloween discos and discuss various other items including fundraising over Christmas. Halloween discos will take place on Thursday 29th October. Tickets are available on parent pay.

School Newspaper
The Autumn edition of the school newspaper, produced by three of our older pupils and Claire from the Parent Council has been published. We are currently finding the best way to share this with you. The file is too large to upload to the blog or to the school app. In the meantime please see it as a series of screen shots of the pages.
Open Afternoon
A form has been sent out via the school app to sign up for the open afternoon on Thursday 29th October. In addition to visiting your child’s classroom we will also share information with you about Emotion Works. This is our new whole school programme for supporting emotional health. We strongly encourage all families to find out about this and how it can support conversations about wellbeing both at home and school. Open Afternoon – 29th October – Fill in form
School Football
We are delighted to let you know that one of our parents, Mr Kyle, has volunteered to support the development of our school football team. More Information to follow.
Staffing Update
It is with genuine sadness that we need to inform of you of Mr Bozner’s departure from St Patrick’s. This has been a temporary post and one that we were only able to fund up until the October holiday this session. Mr Bozner’s last day will be Friday 9th October. Mr Bozner has been an extremely valued member of our school team and will be greatly missed. Mr Bozner will take up a new role in another East Ayrshire Primary School – one that is very close by! We wish Mr Bozner the very best of luck in his new role.
P2/3 have been joined by Miss Gill for the past few weeks as part of her continued studies in primary education. Miss Gill’s last day will be Friday 9th October.
Attendance
We are so pleased to see the gains for some of pupils in attendance. A huge well done to those who are over 95% so far and were below 80% last session! This is amazing! You know who you are! Keep it up!
Unfortunately overall attendance has dipped since the start of the session. Please try to support us in keeping it above 90%
We look forward to meeting with most of you on Thursday and wish you all a great October break when the time comes. Thank You for your continued support.
School reopens to pupils on Tuesday 20th October.
