Feedback from school visit 14th & 15th February, 2024

Overall Strengths and Feedback

· The relationships throughout the school, in particular between all staff and pupils, are strong, respectful and caring.

· There is a clear commitment to regularly celebrating successes of all pupils who are respectful and polite.

· The school works hard to be at the centre of the wider community.

· A committed staff create a positive ethos across the school.

· Positive relationships between pupils and staff are evident classes.

· Pupils respond positively and are eager to learn where learning opportunities are well-planned and engaging.

There is a clear commitment to children’s rights as observed via Class Charters and ongoing commitment the Rights Respecting Schools project.

· Senior leaders and staff are creating a safe and nurturing environment in which children learn.

· The school is clearly well resourced.

· From discussions with the ASN Coordinator, the school strives to meet the needs of all children.

From discussions with the Head Teacher and Depute Head Teachers during the visit it is clear that there is a shared understanding within the SLT regarding the strengths and challenges within the school.

· Some differentiation is being applied through task and others through support.

· Opportunities were observed for pupils to work in paired and in group situations

· Positive praise observed a next step would be to develop this consistently into constructive next steps for future learning.

· Evidence of collegiate planning across stages.

· Leadership opportunities and development groups are established to take forward school improvement priorities and collegiate time has been allocated for these this is building the capacity for all staff to lead improvements across the school.

Next Steps

· Specific targeted actions to further develop planning, teaching and learning and assessment across the school should be a refocus for quality assurance.

· Ensure digital technologies are enhancing learning throughout the school consistently.

· The school should engage with authority support to review their inclusion rationale for class teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
