Weekly Round-up

We’ve had another busy week this week.

This week we have been continuing to learn about time. We have been calculating how long a journey might take by using the start and finishing times. We have also been using our knowledge to work out when we would arrive at different destinations based on our setting off time and journey time.

In Literacy we finished reading our novel Divided City  and we were able to see if our predictions were correct. We completed a Book Review, detailing the main themes, characters and best parts of the story. We also wrote our Crazy Creatures story after planning it last week.

This week we were looking at the Scottish and UK Parliaments and the powers that each of them hold.

We went to the park for our PE session this week and we had a class game of football, focussing on our passing and teamwork skills.

We were also learning about our brain and how this controls our emotions and reactions, and we identified different ways we can help to regulate our emotions.

With the Olympics due to take place in Paris, we researched the Olympic Games. We also learned how to say the names of some of the countries participating in French.

Weekly round up

On Monday we did a spelling test and read some more of our book in the afternoon we learned about democracy and talked about the Scottish Parliament.

On Tuesday we went to the park with the p1s. We enjoyed spending time with our buddies and helping them on their walk.

On Wednesday we had Reach Groups.  In class we were learning about time. We were learning the difference between 12 and 24 hour clocks. In the afternoon we had PE and we got to use the gymnastic equipment. In ICT we created our weekly class timetable using a table on word.

We planned a crazy creature in our writing. In maths we were calculating how long it would take us to travel to different places depending on the transport we used. We learned a bit more about democracy and how people get to vote for different party leaders. Then we did a bit of science and were learning about the brain.

Today we were learning to convert time from 24 hour into 12 hour time. This afternoon we started to create our own musical instruments.

Weekly Round-Up

This week on Monday Morning we had Mrs  Campbell. We did literacy after break, we wrote letters for the engineering competition. After lunch we went a walk and we went to the black horse and skimmed some stones.

On Tuesday we had Mrs Campbell we did some maths in the morning after break we did some literacy after lunch we did some activities and then we did P:E.

On Wednesday we had Reach circles in the morning. After break we had Mrs cook until lunch and we did some math work. After lunch we had P:E and then we had ICT for the last bit of the day.

On Thursday we had Miss Burleigh and we did some maths in the morning and after break we went to ICT and we wrote about a class pet or a holiday. After lunch we did some science and we are were learning about magnetic forces. We also did a STEM challenge, where we had to work in groups to build a bridge that could hold at least 5 dictionaries, focussing on our communication and team working skills.

On Friday we did some fractions work in maths and after break  we did some literacy. After lunch we did some French and we were learning different animals in French. We finished off our day going to Fun 31.

Weekly Update

On Monday we went on a walk to the Voes and then to the park. We read some of our book study Divided City. We also got new spelling words.

In numeracy we were learning about fractions and improper fractions. Today we played a new maths game on the computers and we were focussing on improving our accuracy.

Mr McGurn came to visit P7s and was telling us about the uniform at RBA, the guidance teachers and the different houses.

Mrs Ferguson took us for music and we were playing the Boom Whackers along to Shake it Off.

Yesterday afternoon we were learning about the different continents and we were identifying the difference between human and physical features.

Weekly update

On Monday we had assembly and in the afternoon the P7s went out a walk  and the P6 pupils  went to see their buddies.

In maths we were learning how to simplify fractions.

In literacy we got new spelling words.

Yesterday it was World Book Day  and we did a Kahoot quiz, we were reading in class. In the afternoon we created our own book character and then animated it on the laptops, to bring it to life.

In PE we were playing basketball & working on managing our emotions in game situations.

Weekly Update

This week for spelling we were learning about prefixes. In maths  we have been doing fractions and learning to calculate  the fraction of a quantity.

In ICT  we learned how to code our own game on Hour of Code. On Monday afternoon we went to the park since we couldn’t get to PE on Wednesday as we had committee groups.

We were also learning about the affect of smoking on the human body and how it affects  your brain, lungs and heart.

Weekly Update

This week we were learning about finances, budgeting and paying for things using higher purchase.

We typed up our stories and highlighted our similes and alliteration in yellow, conjunctions in green and sentence openers in blue.

We were practising our spelling words and reading some more of our book. We were answering questions based on the text.

We also started to practise and revise our knowledge of the different chess pieces ahead of our chess tournament next term.

In PE we finished our badminton block and had a little tournament Ashton and Ryan won on Tuesday, and Josh and Declan won on Wednesday.

We were also learning how to find different countries on the map and look at the countries they share a border with.

Weekly Round-up

This week we had our whole school literacy groups again and we were learning about inference.

We wrote the next part of our narrative stories and some people began to type theirs up.

We completed a maths assessment on Wednesday and we have been practising our division facts.

In PE we were playing mini badminton games and practised shooting in basketball.

Yesterday we did art and we looked at different patterns and colours in various pieces of artwork. We also got to use the blocks and one group created their own bowling game.

Weekly Round-up

This week we have been continuing to consolidate our knowledge of division and are becoming more confident tackling these types of calculations more independently.

On Monday we were using our research skills to gather information on the Battle of Bannockburn, and use these to create a PowerPoint. We also started to learn about forces in science and we created our own parachutes.

We had Home Circles on Wednesday and were discussing what inclusion at Catrine Primary looks like.

We also started to play mini badminton games during our PE lessons.

We were also learning how to make a ping pong game using Scratch in ICT.

Weekly Round Up

 

This week we were doing division with reminders and some people were doing reminders with decimals.

We were reading ‘Divided City’ in literacy and it is our homophone week. In writing we wrote our introductions to our narrative story.

In health and wellbeing learning about different substances and the effects that alcohol has on a person.

In art we were learning about product design and looked at some of the work produced by Gillian Kyle. We then created our own Scottish art work in the style of Gillian Kyle.

In PE we continued to work on our Badminton skills and are able to serve and return. We are looking forward to having some small tournament games.
