WEEKLY ROUNDUP

Our pupils have had a busy last week of term!

Literacy

The pupils have been learning to use visualisation to help them understand a text. All pupils found quotes from our recently completed class novel ‘The Butterfly Lion’. They then used these quotes to help them create a visual of the Butterfly Lion in our playground.

Numeracy 

The pupils have been learning to link multiplication and division through the use of fact families.

Across the Curriculum

The pupils have been learning to count from 0-20 in French. To practice our accents and reinforce our knowledge we played some games.

As pupils have reached 5,000 class points we are having a ‘Yes Day’ which all pupils are enjoying.

Weekly roundup

Our pupils have had a busy week this week!

Literacy

The pupils have been learning to use reporting verbs in direct speech. All pupils can correctly punctuate direct speech, identify where the dialogue tag is in the sentence and can use a variety of reporting verbs to describe how someone is speaking.

Numeracy 

The pupils have been learning to use the formal method to solve multiplication problems.

Numeracy homework should be handed in on Monday.

Across the Curriculum 

The pupils were visited by the Barony Campus police officer this week to learn how to stay safe online.

The pupils also had the chance to be tour guides this week by researching and presenting various places in South Africa.

A big congratulations to Miss Higgins who passed her final 4th year crit this week! Miss Higgins will now go on to be a fully qualified teacher after the summer holidays.

 


World Book Day

Our pupils have had a blast celebrating World Book Day!

They have enjoyed taking part in some ‘drop everything and read’ time where pupils read books from home or from our school library together.

Our mystery reader was also Mrs Cook who read us a fabulous picture book story.

All pupils will also be going home with a new book today.

A big thank you to the library committee for organising some amazing activities today!

Weekly Roundup

Literacy

The pupils have been exploring speech marks in literacy this week. All pupils can correctly punctuate direct speech and can use it in their narrative writing to help move the storyline along.

Numeracy

All pupils are learning to solve more challenging multiplication questions using Number Talks strategies. The pupils have also been exploring area with Miss Higgins.

I will collect numeracy homework jotters in from pupils on Monday.

Across the Curriculum 

The pupils have enjoyed exploring coding and game design in ICT.

As part of our Africa topic, the pupils have been exploring the physical geography of South Africa. Additionally, the pupils have created beautiful artwork in the style of Tingatinga.
