We are nearing the end of our class novel, Danny the Champion of the World, however we are still unsure as to how the story is going to end. We are continuing to use our 6 reading strategies to complete tasks related to the novel and this week we focussed on metalinguistics. This strategy helps us to find out the meaning of unfamiliar or tricky words.

This week for mental maths we were revisiting the partitioning strategy which help us break down larger calculations into more manageable calculations. This strategy seems to be a favourite in P4/5.

We are still learning all about substance misuse and the effects different substances can have on your body. This week we looked at the different categories drugs can be broken into; socially acceptable drugs, prescribed drugs, over the counter medicines and controlled (illegal) drugs. We then completed an activity to help consolidate our learning.
