Wk ending 11th Sept

What an exciting week we have had this week. Mr Grinling, the Lighthouse Keeper, needed our help. His light stopped working and we had to become electrical engineers to help him. We learned all about electricity, building our own circuits and drawing technical maps.

Mrs Grinling also needed our help. She had heard that we have been learning about the Eatwell Plate, so she asked us to design a healthy lunch for Mr Grinling. We hope she loved our delicious, healthy lunch ideas.

We’ve also been continuing to investigate Place Value. We learned how to partition numbers.

We loved having a shared play with P1/2. Lawson was our Responsible Citizen this week as he took time to help some of the new P1s learn how to use the Chromebooks. What a great helper!

Wk ending 4th September

This week we have been continuing to learn about Place Value.  We were learning how to build numbers using base 10 material.

Through our Book study, we wanted to learn about the different parts of a lighthouse.  We were able to label the correct parts then self assess our work using Tickled Pink and Green for Growth.

We also explored and experimented  with watercolours to create our own landscape and lighthouse artwork.  What little artists we have in P2/3!  Look at their beautiful paintings…

We have also been learning about healthy eating through discussing the Eatwell Plate.  We discussed the importance of eating lots of different foods to give our bodies what they need to play, grow and be healthy.  We worked in partners to sort food into the correct categories.

We were all very excited to start learning how to play the ukuleles this week.  We have learned how to hold them correctly and how to strum and pluck them to make different sounds.

We also wanted to say a massive well done to Freddie who completed his 26th mile last night at Dumfries house with his cousin Louis and his mum. Well done Freddie! We are all very proud of you! ⭐️
