Sexual health education

Part of our learning at school is about relationships, being safe, growing up, body parts and being a parent. In upper primary children also learn about pregnancy and birth. In secondary schools the young people also learn about gender, sex and sexuality.

Children and young people do not just learn in formal settings, they also learn at home and we recognising the role of parents and carers as the child’s first and lifelong educator. When talking with your child the Learning at Home leaflets below provided at each Level about  should be off assistance. To learn about the Learning at School please click on this link, select the level you require and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.

It should be noted that schools use resources which best suit the needs of their individual pupils. Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions about the resources they are using.

However, the main resources used for Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) are

  1. Denominational schools:
    1. Primary – God’s Loving Plan
    2. Secondary – Called to Love
  2. Non-domination schools – National RSHP resources
