Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in getting homework up today.

For literacy we are consolidating our learning of our sounds. We have now learned all the phonemes that we need to 🙂

The phonemes that we should know are:

For reading I have allocated all groups a new book. We will not have very much time in class this week for our book due to phonics assessment so please ensure we read this at home this week.

Sorry for the delay in getting homework up for this week.

For literacy we are consolidating our learning of y, igh and i-e. Please see this weeks word list below. In class tomorrow the children will create their own word list by choosing words from the list below that they want to focus on or that they find difficult.

In reading our groups are changing slightly. I will let the children know tomorrow what group they are in but they might already be able to tell you going by the book they read today and you will see the book allocated on Bug Club.

For numeracy we are continuing our learning of multiplication and time. Triangles have explored the 2 times table and the circles have been exposed to the 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables too. For time we have been looking at matching digital times to analogue times, discussing when certain things happen (AM or PM) and trying to tell the time. Triangles – o’clock and half past. Circles – o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Some circles have been trying to work times out using five minute intervals and to the nearest minute and have been doing a super job.

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in posting the homework this week. My internet was down last night 🙁

For homework this week I would like you to focus on our new sound ‘ew’. Please see our word list below. Can you think of any more ‘ew’ words?

I would love you to focus on our Scottish poem ‘The Sair Finger’ and be ready to perform this to the class on Friday should you wish to take part in the competition. You could even have a go at creating some actions.

I hope everyone has had a lovely October holiday, I can’t wait to hear all about it.

As it is a shorter week this week I am only allocating literacy homework.

The children will now be moving on to learn their new sounds, with a new one each week. Their new sound for this week is ‘ay’ and their common words are: day, away, always and today.

I am finding in class that some of the children are finding the word lists too easy so I have created a challenge word list. Feel free to do whatever one you find more appropriate at home.

Children can complete a task/tasks from the active spelling grid or focus more on sentence building using the words. If parents could support children with writing on the line, remembering capital letters, finger spaces, punctuation and encourage them to use and or but to make their sentence better.

P2 are continuing to consolidate their knowledge of their phonemes we have been looking at. The phonemes we will focus on this week are: ee, oo, ck, ai, oy, oa and qu. I am finding in class that the children are good at reading phoneme and tricky words but they are sometimes struggling with spelling them which is something we will be focusing on in class.

P3 are revisiting the split phonemes a-e, u-e and the phoneme ea.

I have assigned everyone a reading book – please read through your book (more than once if possible) and discuss it with an adult. You could make predictions about the story and ask each other questions. Then make your way through the book and complete all the bugs.
