Thursday 30th April

Good Morning P2

I hope you are all well today and feeling happy.

Before you start your work why don’t you have a dance along with The Trolls- I think it will cheer you up and get you ready to face the day with a smile. Here’s the link-

https://youtu.be/KhfYzUwYFk

Today we would like you to –

  1. Do the Maths BBC Bitesize daily lesson. It is about putting numbers in the correct order.
  2. Phonics-Could you be like Geraldine the Giraffe today?  Watch these two clips and then see if you can find 5 things in your house with a ch sound in them. If you want you could rainbow write and draw what you have found.
  3.  https://youtu.be/8JmCrl4FHj8
  4. https://youtu.be/OyrYDitif1o
  5. Science- Growing Things. If you watch these YouTube clips you will learn a bit more about how a seed becomes a plant.
  6. https://youtu.be/tkFPyue5X3Q
  7. In this clip you can see a bean seed grow very, very quickly. It speeds up 25 days growing into just 3 minutes!
  8. https://youtu.be/w77zPAtVTuI

I hope you enjoy these activities. I’ve put up lots of ideas and things to watch and do. If it’s too much then choose to do what you can. Tomorrow is a ‘catch up’ day.

Enjoy dancing to The Trolls.

Stay happy and share your learning!

(Parents/carers-all of these clips are from Youtube so you may be able to get them on your TV which would ‘free up’ your computer)

Wednesday 29th April

Good Morning P2,

Today your teachers would like you to try these activities-

  1. BBC Bitesize Literacy lesson which is all about nouns, joining words and writing about mini beasts .
  2. Have you watched the amazing video Mrs Kidd has made teaching you how to write a Glow Blog? Please watch it and have a go sharing something you have done at home with us on your blog.
  3. Instead of doing the BBC Bitesize maths lesson please have a look at the Mymaths website. You should have a username and password sent to you from Miss Cook.

Have fun trying out all of these new things.

And remember that you can email us if you get ‘stuck’ and need some help.

Stay safe and have fun,

Mrs Strain and Team P2

Let’s get Glowing ⭐

Hello Everyone,

Firstly, I would like to apologise for being unable to post this information sooner. There have been several obstacles in my way but if you need assistance getting onto “The Glow Page” then please have a look at this video I’ve made.

Contained in the video is a request for pupils to try and write a little piece of news about what they have been up to recently. The video asks for this to be added to their Glow page by Friday but we can extend that to Tuesday next week. That will allow the staff to see who may still need help accessing this means of communication.

Having already sought permission, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ava and her parents for allowing me to use her page to demonstrate how you can all access your own pages.

Let’s give it a go,

Hello Everyone in P2S

Hi everyone,

I am bit slower to the blog than most of the other teachers as I am learning, just like you, how to manage and use technology to bring us together during these strange times. Remember, I always tell you to never give up in your learning and to keep trying new ways to learn and build your own self-confidence. I have certainly learned an awful lot over the past week or so by keeping this in mind. I have not given up and I will keep growing my skills in technology just like you.

I miss you all so much and I would love to try and keep in touch through our P2 Blog. I hope you have enjoyed all the lovely sunshine we have had and that you are cherishing time with your families.

Keep Safe,

Love Mrs Saxelby

My Maths

TUESDAY 28th APRIL 2020

Hi everyone,

Miss Cook emailed/spoke to each of your carer’s to give you Onthank’s username and password and your personal username and password to access this site. Remember you have to use Onthank’s log in first followed by your personal log in to access our P2 activities. We are going to post 3 or 4 lessons a week for you to complete if you can. We are revisiting maths that we have already experienced in class. You can can choose between the Bite Size Daily tasks and MyMaths or if you are really enthusiastic and have the time you can try both! Good Luck!

Tuesday 28th April

Good morning P2,

I hope you enjoyed BBC Bitesize yesterday and managed to get outside to look for some plants?

Today there are 2 Daily Lessons-

  1. Numeracy is counting with 10’s and 1’s.
  2. Literacy is all about using capital letters and full stops.

For our Growing Things topic today I’d like you to go to the science page on First Level BBC Bitesize. (Remember-there is a ‘how to’ guide on the P2St Glow blog page)

Could you please watch the clip called- ‘What does a plant need to grow?’

Here are some more websites you could go to as well to learn about plants growing-

https://youtu.be/Lly75dEbXE8

This is a sci show kids episode about growing your own plants.

https://youtu.be/Yxs7P7LWzDg

This is a ‘Peep and The Big Wide World’ episode called- Peep Plants a seed.

These will help you learn about what plants need to grow.

Have you ever grown a plant?

What did you do? Did you plant a seed or do something else?

  • Maybe you could make a poster showing all of the things a plant needs to grow?

Happy Learning!

BBC Bitesize Daily Lessons

Good Morning P2,

I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend and managed to get outside in the glorious sunshine!

This week your teachers would like you to go on BBC Bitesize to do the daily lessons there. Today there are 3 lessons and activities for you-

  • Numeracy- Ordinal numbers. That means a number that tells you what order something is, for example-first, second and third.
  • Literacy- Some handwriting practice and alliteration.
  • History- You will learn about Dr Martin Luther King

There is a guide to getting on BBC Bitesize on the P2st blog. It’s quite easy to find from a Google search-the most important thing to know is that you select ‘Daily Lessons’ and then ‘Year 1/P2’.

We think you’ll enjoy these activities at home as there are games, videos and worksheets to download.

This term P2’s topic is ‘Growing Things’. There are lots of great resources on BBC Bitesize to help you learn a bit more about Growing Things, and lots of things you can look you for and do at home.

Today if you can watch-

  • ‘What plants can you find outside?’

(Details of how to find this are also on my P2st blog)

Once you have watched this you could go outside to your garden, for a walk or to the park and look around at all of the plants you can see. You could draw some of them, or do tally marks and count how many different plants you can see or talk to your family about the plants you have seen.

I’ve noticed how quickly the trees are changing and growing new leaves, and how green everything looks right now. What do you notice? Why is that happening?

You could also post about what you have done on your Glow blog so that your teacher can see it too.

Have a happy Monday,

Mrs Strain and Team P2
