Active Literacy
This week we are going to go back over some of the joined phonemes we learned at the end of last year before moving on to our new joined phoneme next week.
Today’s joined phonemes both make the ‘ow’ sound-the sound you might say if you hurt yourself.
Here are some words with the ‘ow’ spelling.
How many more can you remember?
Here are some words with the ‘ou’ spelling.
How many more can you remember?
Here are some links to YouTube clips you that will help you remember some ‘ou’ and ‘ow’ words we learned before the holiday-
Today’s work task-
-
Work with your ‘home school buddy’ and say all of the words you can think of with the ‘ow’ sound (remember – your words will have the same sound, but the joined phoneme will be either ‘ow’ or ‘ou’) .
-
Now draw two ‘sorting circles’ like this to sort your words.
-
Say your word- then write it- can you remember what joined phoneme it has?
-
Look at your word-does it look correct?
-
When you have decide how to spell your word write it in either the ‘ou’ circle or the ‘ow’ circle.
-
If you want you can take a photo of your work and post it on your Glow Blog page or email it to your teacher.
Have fun and love learning!
