Mrs Burns P3B October Break

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to start by introducing myself, my name is Mrs. Burns and I have the privilege of being your child’s classroom teacher for the academic year 21/22. As a class, we are looking forward to having a positive and rewarding year.

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of a very busy and productive term one! Many thanks to all who have responded to our Teacher Phone Consultations. I am working my way through the list of responses. It has been a pleasure to be able to discuss your child’s progress and future aims. If you have yet to respond and would like an appointment, please contact the office and we can arrange something for after the October break.

P.E. this year is on a Monday morning (Team Games), Tuesday afternoon (Ball Skills), and Thursday Afternoon (Yoga and Mindfulness). As Covid restrictions continue to ease we are hoping that next term we will be able to access the gym halls. Until then P.E. will remain outside.

I have ‘non-class contact time’ on Thursday and Friday mornings. During this time Miss Hamilton will be taking the class. Mrs. Smith will be providing us with in-class assistance. We will be working as a team to ensure that there is continuity and progression in your child’s learning journey.

Homework can be found on TEAMs. Yesterday I sent home a homework jotter for you to use and keep at home. Their Glow account is where they will find an icon to log into their TEAMs account. They can upload their work from their jotter by posting a picture of it. We are all (including me) still learning how to navigate TEAMs. We will continue to practice logging in in class. Part of East Ayrshires ICT policy is for the children to learn their username and password to ensure that TEAMs is a private area between the teacher and student. We have access to school laptops all day Monday and I tend to squeeze some extra time in on a Friday when we can. We appreciate your patience and perseverance whilst we learn a new way to share homework.

Finally, a reminder that as the weather becomes wetter children should come to school with a warm jacket, preferably with a hood. We often like to take our learning outside…whatever the weather!

I hope you all have an enjoyable October break and I look forward to welcoming your child back on Tuesday 19th October.

(Monday is an in-service day)

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Burns

Primary 3B Classroom Teacher
