Update for Parents/Carers
A wee gentle reminder to parents/carers that there will be no supervision before 8.35 a.m.
“It is the Authority’s expectation that schools have supervision in place for up to 15 minutes before classes begin.”
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Thank you.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Can you please complete the two attached forms as a matter of urgency if you have not already done so?
Please ensure that both forms are completed.
Teachers are working on pulling together information for their class blogs and are unable to use pupil photographs until consent information has been received.
Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Parents and Carers,
Flu Immunisation consent forms have now been issued to all pupils; please have a look out for them in your child’s school bag.
All primary and secondary school pupils are offered the flu vaccine as a painless nasal spray. Further information can be found by calling 0800 030 8013 or at:
Please complete and return the consent form to the school, even if you do not want your child to be vaccinated, by Friday 5th September 2025.
Thank you
Dear Parents and Carers,
You might have noticed things are a wee bit different here at Ochiltree Primary this session.
We have decided to remove the bells as part of our inclusive environment refresh. By removing 30 bells a day !!! we are hoping to create a more calming relaxed environment for all our learners.
By allowing children to filter into school we can greet them with a smile rather than the tension of lining up. We can also remove the anxiety some pupils have about being late – it happens.
The timings across the school remain the same as well as the entrance and exits, but our approach is now a bit different and more learner friendly.
We hope this will ease both you and your child into school with a smile.
Welcome back everyone after a lovely holiday .
We are delighted to be all back together for session 25/26 and to welcome our new P1 pupils. We also welcome our new teachers Mrs Agnew and Miss Murray .
We are looking forward to sharing lots of wonderful learning with you over the next weeks so make sure you stay tuned to our app and the blogs and we hope to see you in the school soon.
Mrs MacColl
Head Teacher

Dear Parents/Carers,
After successful interviews last week, we are now able to share the class structure and teachers for next session.
We have been able to keep the year groups together and follow the structures from this year, with the exception of next year’s P6 pupils.
The class structure will be as follows:
P1/2 Mrs Kane
P3/4 Mrs Meek and Mrs Tweedly
P5/6 Mrs Rooney and Newly Qualified Teacher ( still to be announced)
P6/7 Mrs Agnew
We have split the new P6’s in accordance with East Ayrshire’s guidance on composite classes and will share this with parents individually . Please be assured that our monitoring of planning teaching and learning procedures will ensure that all P6 pupils continue to work at the appropriate level and have the same opportunities. A range of activities will also take place that bring the year group together and children will be able to socialise in the playground.
We are looking forward to our new session and welcoming our new probationer and Mrs Agnew to the school . We will also be seeking a new DHT for next session as Mrs Lockie retires at the summer.
We would also like to take this time to thank Mrs Phillips, Mr Holland and Mrs Lockie for their hard work and commitment to Ochiltree Primary School and wish them well in their future endeavours.
Regards
Mrs D. MacColl

If your child wants to take part, please ensure they have a long sleeved jumper on trousers and shoes that can get wet! Children should bring a change of clothes and a towel.

UPDATE
The next Parent Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th June, commencing at 7:00pm in the Ochiltree Church Hall.
It has been a month since we launched our new reading scheme for P1-4 and in class things are progressing well.
We can see that some families are not regularly accessing the scheme at home and may be experiencing issues.
If that is the case, it might be for a variety of reasons but we are here to help!
We are available to support access with a drop in on the 6th of June: bring your device along or alternatively give us a call.
From log in issues to connectivity we will do our best to help you get on board. We will also be making resources available over the summer to support your P1-4 children so now is the time to get things set up.
Due to the inclement weather conditions a decision whether to go ahead with our Sports Day on Friday afternoon at 1.30 p.m. will be made first thing on Friday morning. Alternative dates will be provided on Friday, if required.
Thank you.
P1 Parents intro to EA Literacy – reading focus
Please see the above presentation on reading in East Ayrshire’s literacy programme and how parents can help their child at home with reading. This may also be helpful to parents and carers of older children .
We have moved on to a new decodable reading scheme and further information about this will be given when your child starts Primary 1.
