East Ayrshire Sumdog Competition

East Ayrshire’s Maths Contest is now live on Sumdog. The contest will run from Monday 23rd March until Friday 27th March at 12:00pm.

The contest will automatically appear on your child’s dashboard when they log in. They will see their progress as they answer questions – when they get to 70,  175, 350 and 525 correct answers they get rewards. Click ‘start‘ and select a game from the games page. The questions answered in the games will count towards the contest.

Answering questions in a contest

Students can answer questions at any time during the period of the contest, including outside of schools hours. As they answer the questions they’ll be able to see the number of questions they’ve gotten correct out of the number of questions they’ve answered in total.

Every child can answer up to 700 questions. When this number is reached, their answers will stop counting towards the leaderboard but they can continue answering math questions!

Students participating in a Contest can earn a range of prizes.

There are several types of prizes that students and classes can earn.

Coins and special items for the house will appear automatically in the recipient’s inventory.

Certificates can be awarded to the First Place Class, Daily Winning Class and Top 10 Students.

We are encouraging all pupils to take part in this contest. Good Luck!

Achievement Assembly 27.3.26

We look forward to hosting our next achievement assembly on Friday 27th March.

Alternatively, if you would like us to share any photographs or videos of your child’s achievements, please email these to eaochiltree.ps@eastayrshire.org.uk by 3pm on Thursday 26th March.

We look forward to celebrating the success of our pupils!

Benedetti Workshop

Yesterday we had the pleasure of being joined by Callum Huggan from the Benedetti Foundation, who led Primary 3 -7 in a percussion workshop. This was an excellent opportunity for our pupils and we would like to say a massive thank you to Callum for this.

A video of our workshop is available to watch on our Ochiltree TV tab on our school website. Click here to access our Ochiltree TV tab.

Sumdog

We have purchased Sumdog, and our school will be using it to help your child with their learning.

What is Sumdog?

Sumdog is an online learning tool which provides personalised maths practice that children love. It adapts questions to each child, using engaging games to build their confidence, and it’s been shown to accelerate progress.

The work is ready – your child just needs to log in

Your child’s teacher may set focused work on topics they’ve learned, which will pop up when they log in. If the teacher hasn’t set any work – no problem! Sumdog automatically chooses the topic for your child, based on an initial diagnostic test which has been completed in school. We ask that children are not provided answers to this, as it automatically adjusts questions based on their answers.

How Sumdog will be used to aid learning and teaching at Ochiltree Primary

At Ochiltree Primary, Sumdog will be used as an assessment tool to inform next steps. It will be used to set specific tasks to be used in small groups based on the learning taking place. Homework will also be provided using set tasks to reinforce the learning taking place in school. Particiaption in authority wide competitions will also be encouraged.

Get started now

Sumdog can be accessed on a computer, mobile or tablet. Go to learn.sumdog.com or download the free Sumdog app which is available on Apple, Android or Amazon. You can also help your child log in by scanning their QR code which will be sent home with them today, along with their individual log in details.
