The Parent Council would like to thank everyone that came along to support our Indoor Car Boot Sale yesterday. It was a great fundraiser, especially the Chocolate Tombola. Thanks again to everyone that donated towards it.
We would like to give a huge thank you to J. McCaig of Shire Energy Services for donating the Tuck Shop products.
All fundraisers are to help enhance the children’s learning experience at school and provide them with new opportunities.
Thank you to all the parent helpers that helped make this event possible.
The Parent Council’s “Name the Elf ” competition will be in school this week to give more children the opportunity to win an Elf. Should you wish your child to take part, the cost is £1.00 per guess. Guesses will be allocated on a first come/ first served basis. The competition will close when all the possible names have been selected and no later than Friday 25th November.
This week we celebrated Book Week Scotland in Primary 2/3. We all brought in our favourite books and talked about them in front of the class. It was so interesting to learn all about our favourite books and everyone did a fantastic job!
In our literacy lessons we found out all about fiction and non-fiction books and did a non-fiction book hunt. We also created a big reading display for our new comfy reading corner. One of our favourite activities was Drop everything and Read and we had a great treat when P6/7 pupils read to us and P1/2 in the hall.
We finished off the week with some great Pudsey activities on Friday.
Primary 5,6 and 7 have been learning how to code micro:bits. P 5/6 have been playing rock, paper, scissors with micro:bits. P6/7 were learning how to record wind and light.
Please note that due to Industrial Action the after school club on Thursday 24 November is cancelled. An additional date has been added on 26 January 2023.
NHS are offering two free workshops to children on the Autistic Spectrum and their families on how to cope with Christmas. One is online and one is held in person in Ayr. If you are interested, please enrol online through the link on the attached posters.
This week primary 4 have been investigating weather and learning about how rain is formed. We made cloud jars and studied how the water droplets made the clouds too heavy which produced raindrops.
We have also been learning about Remembrance day; we made Playdoh poppies at our funky fingers station and in art created Pointillism poppies.
In Numeracy we have been learning about doubles and near doubles.
Ochiltree Parent Council are holding a Chocolate Tombola at the Indoor Car Boot Sale on Sunday 20th November. We are looking for donations of chocolate to make this possible. This can be any sort of chocolate from a bar of chocolate to a box of chocolates. Please hand in any donations to school by Wednesday 16th November. A drop off box is available at the Main Entrance.
Please ensure that there are NO NUT products donated.
