“The Parent Council are back with their Easter Raffle again! So if you are out shopping and happen to see some yummy treats or crafty things, we will be looking for some donations again this year. You can hand any donations into the school and we can collect from there. The raffle tickets will be handed out at school to all children in due course.
Again all money raised will be used for the children in the school. “
Pupils have been throughly enjoying their new topic. We have learned all about Nessie, the Kelpies and enjoyed the story of ‘The Wee Bannock”.
We are debating wether or not Nessie is real, what do you think?
We have been very lucky to have “Harris’s Mum” come in and show us how to make 3D models of the Kelpies using a really cool substance called Polymorph.
Harris and Flynn made a battle of the Bannocks at the creative area, and you can also see Eilidh working hard researching facts about our mythical creatures.
Have a super February break everyone!
Mrs Meek
Please note that Parents’ afternoon/evening will be held on Thursday 23rd March 2023.

Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections. Human beings thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing. And when our need for rewarding social connections is not met, we can sometimes feel isolated and lonely – which can have a negative impact on our mental health.
As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. Click the link below to find a range of free resources that you can access:

Primary 4 pupils will be starting music sessions with Mrs Hill after the February break. The sessions will focus on rhythm skills to help prepare pupils for learning a string instrument when they move into Primary 5.
P6/7 read an extract about the Legend of Robin Hood and then had to write a few paragraphs describing what happened to Guy of Guisborne after he chased Robin into the forest ……

This week Primary 6/7 have been busy studying 3 maps of Ochiltree from the past until present day. They were finding where they lived aswell as important local landmarks.
They looked at the legend, grid lines and contour lines.
Emma enjoyed figuring out where the River Lugar went.
Please have a look at some of our photos from our Learning for Sustainability Day.
A huge thanks to Education Officers Faith, Malcolm and Ryan from Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere for organising and running our Learning for Sustainability Day.
Our Eco-committee is delighted to have been awarded a 7th Green Flag! Well done to everyone in school for all their hard work. Also a huge thanks to everyone in the community who has supported us in our journey.
P6/7 were looking at different still life paintings by artists. They then drew their own Scottish themed drawings with a cubioid, cylinder and soft piece of material with folds in it. It was a challenging task but they all did a superb job – don’t you agree?
The next meeting of the Ochiltree Primary School Parent Council will take place in person on Wednesday 1st February at 7pm in the Ochiltree Hub.
If you are unable to attend in person and would like to attend online, please email the Parent Council at ochiltreeparentcouncil20@gmail.com
We have been enjoying gymnastics in P.E, so far we have been working on our rolls and jumps. We can’t wait to get all the equipment out!
We have been learning about the Loch Ness Monster as part of our new topic. Do you think she is real? We can’t decide! We created these pictures of “Lady McNessie”, inspired by Scottish artist Steven Brown.
Primary 5/6 and Primary 6/7 have began to explore Ochiltree as part of our new topic. Last week, we created a mind map and discussed what we already know about Ochiltree. Today we all went out a walk to explore key features of our local village including houses, businesses and monuments. We noted some interesting facts and will use this information to stimulate further discussion about our village. Many thanks to our parent helpers who came along!
