Church Lunches

Dear Parent/Carer

Church Lunches – October – December 2024

Ochiltree Parish Church is once again hosting lunches on a Thursday in the Church Hall. Lunches are usually soup and a filled roll (payment is made directly to the Church on the day).

Pupils from Primary 5, 6 and 7 will be able to attend under parental supervision starting Thursday 24th October. If you wish your child to go for a lunch at the Church on a Thursday this should be confirmed in writing and is based on the understanding that your child is under parental supervision and will only travel to and from the Church Hall.

No child will be allowed to go without written permission from their parent.

Thank you to Ochiltree Church for inviting us to take part.

We hope this information is helpful.

Yours faithfully

Depute Head Teacher

Cashpot for Schools

Cashpot for Schools Information
If you have the Asda Rewards App, you can join the Cashpot for Schools scheme. Asda will then donate 0.5% of your spend, if it is over £2, to the school of your choice every time you shop.  In addition, they will give £1 to the school for every person who registers. There is no cost to you in money or rewards points.
We would be delighted if you chose Ochiltree Primary. However, there is no obligation to do so. Please do not feel that you have to change your shopping habits just for us!
If you do decide to support the school, thank you from us all.

MaidSafe Foundation Update

Garden update October 2023

After a very successful meeting with Jenna Cairns from the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere and Malcolm Haddow SWSEIC support officer (South West Environmental Information Centre) we have a plan to take the garden further.

Increase the biodiversity in the garden by:

  1. Introducing more native flowers, planting bulbs, flowers, and scattering seeds (Emily Hay from CEI will be providing some of these and working with the school.
  2. Cap group have given a donation of £100 to raise the planting beds.
  3. Using the resources, we have we will be encouraging a host of wildlife including hedgehogs by moving the branches we had from clearing previously from the garden into a more suitable area.
  4. Looking at introducing water areas in the garden to encourage a whole host of insect, mammals, and bird life.
  5. Malcom has said they would lend us a trail cam to record and watch to see what wildlife comes into the garden when the children are not there.
  6. Compost area will be made, we will be asking the community if they have any unused compost bins they will donate, or we will make our own.
  7. Wildflowers being planted along the fence between the garden and pitch and up along the fence with the field to encourage insects and birds.
  8. Bird houses and bird feeders will be purchased for the garden also.
  9. We will also be installing a weather station within the garden for the children to record the weather.
