We learned how to use a compass to work out the different directions. Using what we had learned we marked the directions on the ground and then recorded the different buildings in our village.
Then we got together and created a new direction map showing the direction where all of the buildings could be found. We had a good discussion about the different buildings in our village and their purposes.
Using our understanding of the journey of food we used clipart to create a PowerPoint all about the journey of milk. We added text to explain the different stages.
As part of our healthy eating we have been learning about the journey of food from the farm until it gets to our plate. We watched a video about the life of a carrot and then ordered the different step in the journey.
We then created posters.
We shared our posters with the class.
Super Heading – big, bold and bright!
Super illustrations – clearly showed the steps!
Good order – lovely use of bullet points and arrows.
We used poppets to help us identify the number of sounds/phonemes we could hear in our words. Every time we said a sound we popped it! We then made sure we included all of the phonemes when we wrote our words.
We have been focusing on healthy eating over the last few weeks.
We took notes in our flip booklets and created healthy eating plates.
We made PowerPoints to show our understanding and shared them with the class.
We had a look to see if we had used our core writing targets.
We wrote an explanation text about the different ways to stay healthy. We made sure to include our core writing targets.
During our writing Mrs Petrie gave us feedback and suggested next steps. After our writing we self assessed our work and came up with two great things about our work (stars) and one thing we could improve next time (wish).
We used our cutting, folding, twisting and curling skills to create 3D faces. We also used our drawing skills to create 2D faces. We had such fun making them!
A late addition to our World Book Day post. A huge congratulations to these children for winning World Book Day books based on their knowledge of authors and characters. Each child has a token they can exchange for a £1 book! The books can also be purchased for £1 without a token.
Here are our amazing costumes. Can you guess which characters we are?
Check out our favourite pyjamas.
We designed and made corner bookmarks.
Look at our amazing bookmarks!
We got the chance to complete a piece of free writing. Some of us designed a cover and retold our favourite story, others wrote a summary of it. Some of us even made up our own story. Others created fact books about real or fictional characters such as Toothless.
We used our core skills when writing. We are getting really good at using these skills.
You can find some very short videos below showing how our books work. We are going to get the chance to share them with the class tomorrow.
