Songs for Assembly

Tune: London’s Burning

Lyrics:
London’s burning, London’s burning,
What a sight! What a sight!
Fire in the bakery, Fire in the bakery
In old Pudding Lane, In old Pudding Lane

Tune: Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Lyrics:
Throw, throw, throw the water,
Try to put out flames,
Bucket chains and helping hands,
Everyone the same.

Throw, throw, throw the water,
Pass it down the line,
Working hard together now,
Save the city in time.

Tune: If You’re Happy and You Know It

Lyrics:
When we build our houses strong, use brick and stone (stamp, stamp)
When we build our houses strong, use brick and stone (stamp, stamp)
Wood can burn and spread a fire,
Brick is safer, that’s why!
When we build our houses strong, use brick and stone (stamp, stamp)

🎵 Song 4: Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Lyrics:
Long ago in London town,
Fire spread and burned it down.
Now we learn from history,
How to keep our city safe and free.
Long ago we learned this way,
To keep fires safe today.

P2/3 Additional Homework Challenge

  • Learn about the importance of recycling our food waste  √
  • Learn how to recycle our food waste here in East Ayrshire √
  • Name your family’s kerbside caddy
  • Recycle your food waste at home and present your caddy for collection each week
  • Help to raise your community caddy count

We have been learning about food waste and the importance of recycling our food waste in school.  We have also discussed how to recycle food waste in East Ayrshire.  If you have a chance could you as a family name your food waste caddy and encourage your child to help recycle food waste.  If you have any photos of your child supporting food waste recycling or names of your caddy; please email them in and we will share them with our class.

Thanks

P2/3 World at Work

19th – 23rd January 2026 World of Work Week

As it is World of Work Week next week we were wondering if any of our parents would like to come in and talk to our class about their job.  It would be a brief chat with only our class and then hopefully some questions from our pupils.  We thought this would be a nice way of learning about a range of different jobs and our kids getting to ‘show off’ their family.  Please let us know if you would be happy to come in and help us and when you are available throughout the week, and we will try our best to accommodate this.

Thanks for your support,

Mrs McLachlan and Miss Stobbs
