An invitation from Joe Gallagher, Cultural Coordinator
Dear Colleagues
I hope this finds you well and that everyone is settling into the new circumstances.
I am delighted to announce that Creative Minds have secured a grant from Creative Scotland to deliver a number of creative learning projects in East Ayrshire schools.
As part of this, we would like to offer a series of workshops and complementary resources for P4 – P7 pupils with artist and writer Kate McAllan. Many will be familiar with Kate from previous literacy support projects such as Paint a Thousand Words and Tales of Discovery. This unit offers a sensory exploration of the relationship between landscape, nature, heritage and language through traditional Scottish stories. I will be collaborating with Kate to develop resources for reading, writing, talking and listening and identifying opportunities and contexts for IDL.
Ideally, we would like to run these during the autumn term, but there is some flexibility to the timeframe, as long as the activities can be completed by March 2022. We would prefer to deliver the sessions face to face, subject to COVID protocols, however, if this is not possible, we have the capacity for remote delivery.
At the moment we are looking for expressions of interest, but we are keen to identify participants experiencing disadvantage. The number of visits we can offer will depend on uptake, but we would anticipate a maximum of four contact days per school.
Please note that there is no cost to schools, but availability is limited and we will allocate slots on a first come first served basis. I would be grateful if you could reply to my glow email joe.gallagher@eastayrshire.org.uk
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes.
Joe
