Welcome to the East Ayrshire Literacy and English site.
Literacy is fundamental to all areas of learning, as it unlocks access to the wider curriculum. Being literate increases opportunities for the individual in all aspects of life, lays the foundations for lifelong learning and work, and contributes strongly to the development of all four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence.

The East Ayrshire Literacy strategy aims to:
- ensure that all learners develop the literacy skills required to be successful in all areas of life, learning and work
- raise attainment and close the poverty related attainment gap in relation to literacy.
This site has been created to support all practitioners in meeting these aims within the East Ayrshire Literacy and English strategy.
This site will also provide information on professional learning opportunities in Literacy.
