Make a Bird Hide
If you spend a little time outdoors and stay still and quiet birds sometimes forget that you are there and are happy to land close by. This gives you a chance to get close look at some of our bird neighbours.
A ‘hide’ is just a simple shelter that makes it easier for you to ‘disappear’.
shows you some ideas for how to build your own. Use what you have available to you and think about what the bird hide is for (it should be hidden, possibly waterproof, is should be possible to get in and out of it quietly…)
Set out some bird food in front of your hide. Challenge – How long can you sit still and quiet?!
Make Simple Outdoor Musical Instruments
Using as many materials as you can from the recycling bin, make your own musical instruments.
Milk cartons filled with stones (and the lid secured) make shakers, upturned tubs and pots make drums, plastic bottles filled with water and hit with a metal or wooden spoon……
This film shows Peter from EAC LOST playing an instrument made from an unwanted wardrobe hanging rail.
Are there other no longer wanted items that could be used to make outdoor instruments?
