Growing Plants from Seed
Growing plants from seed is a great way to learn about what plants need to grow (generally light, food and water).
In the Spring and summer it is very easy to find seeds for sale at the supermarket. The seed packets give you lots of information on how to care for your plants. You can buy pots and compost but many seeds will be just as happy in a yoghurt pot with a hole in the bottom and some garden soil.
See our video to show you how you can get started with or without a garden.

RHS – Bringing the Sunshine Inside
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) runs a gardening website for schools. You can access the website without registering with the RHS and it is free! It includes lots of easy to use guides and suggestions for getting started. The link below gives a quick overview of what you will find on the website.

Sound Mapping
If we use our sense of hearing as well as our eyes when we are outdoors we will discover so much more. The sound mapping activity from OWL Scotland shows you how. Start by listening for 1 minute at a time and try to listen for a minute and a half the next time. Keep increasing your listening time as you get better and better at this activity.
