Final Fairtrade Total!

We can now reveal that our final total from our Fairtrade enterprise was….

£126.83!

We are incredibly proud of the pupils who ran the enterprise and would like to thank everyone who bought a cake from our stall. We will be sending our donation to the Fairtrade Foundation.

We would also like to thank the parent council and local Co-Op for their kind donations of ingredients and also thank Ian Cairns who took the time to come in and teach us about Fairtrade.

P6/5 Outdoor Maths

P6/5 had a great time doing maths outdoors this morning.  First we collected, counted and sorted a variety of natural materials.  Some children arranged them into a symmetrical picture and some sorted them into categories by colour, shape, size or where they came from.  We then used the natural resources to count and create a bar chart headed “Natural Resources in our Playground.” To develop our understanding of fractions, we used sticks to create our own equivalent fraction walls.  Well done P6/5, great work!

P5/4 Outdoor Maths

P5/4 enjoyed learning about their 2,4 and 8 times tables outdoors today.  First we collected natural materials for our tens frames. Then we looked at ways to sort them and arrange them.  Some children saw lines of symmetry, some sorted into really interesting categories I.e. from beach, woodland and garden. We then used the natural materials to create a variety of arrays and practise our multiplication by using the game “hopscotch.” Well done P5/4!

It has been a busy week! In our Space topic, we have been learning all about the Sun.  We found out what is made of and the different types of energy it produces.  We investigated refraction of light using prisms and saw all the colours of the rainbow.

Also this week we have been extending our French vocabulary.  The focus was Le Petit Dejeuner (breakfast).  We learned how to say lots of breakfast foods in French and how to order these in a French café.  We even got to try pain au chocolat as a treat at the end of the lesson.

P2 maths with numicon

We have been using something in maths called Numicon. It is helping us with lots of concepts. We have done addition stories, pattern, symmetry and counting. It’s great fun and a fantastic visual for understanding numbers.

P7 Our Week

This week P7 were continuing stories about a mysterious letter. We were using descriptive language to create characters and atmosphere.

We were also doing art where we drew and painted fruit bowls.

For P.E. we had a teacher from Loudoun called Mrs. Forsyth and we got to play basketball. We all had fun!
