How To…. Add Microsoft Teams To Launch Pad

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoyed a relaxing holiday. As you know, we will be doing some remote learning at home for the next wee while and we will be working similarly to how we did last time.

However, something that will be useful for P3-7 will be the Microsoft Teams app. This app has different features that will be useful for online learning and although we won’t be using it straight away, it’ll be handy to have for future use! I’ve made a short video that shows you how to add the app to your child’s GLOW launch pad. Once your child has logged into GLOW, watch the video below and it’ll show you how to add the app. I hope the video is clear and is useful!

P1L – Mrs Cuthbertson (Thursday 7th January 2021)

Good morning everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa brought you some lovely surprises. Thank you very much for all the lovely cards and gifts you gave me. I am very, very lucky and appreciate your kindness. I have missed you all during the holidays and am sad that we can’t be back at school just now. Fingers crossed it wont be too long until we can all be together in our school. I am looking forward to our on line learning starting on Monday. Mrs Carey and I will create some fun activities for you to do at home. You have all worked so hard this year so we will build on all the clever things that you can do. ,We will also use Education City, which I know you are all really enjoy. Its very, very icy today so take special care if you are outside. Have a super weekend and take care of you and your family.

Love and Hugs

Happy New Year!

I hope you and your family are well. As we return  this term  to the challenges that lie ahead, please be assured we will work hard to work in partnership with you as you seek to support your  child at home with their learning.

We are sorry not to welcome all our pupils back but I know that our pupils will  do their best to show you hard they work in school at home, doing their daily activities.

From Monday 11th January, 21, our Primary and ECC staff will post daily on GLOW – remember that you can access GLOW without requiring a password. You  just  google ‘Hurlford Primary School Glow page’ to see your child’s class post.

Educationcity and Nessy (P3-P7) can be accessed online. Your child should be able to show you how to do this.

P4-P7 should also know their GLOW passwords so they can access Teams, unfortunately due to national guidance we are not allowed to share these with Parents/Carers/

We would encourage our older pupils to communicate with their teacher via their GLOW email and share their learning with their teacher, where possible.

We recognise that home learning can be very stressful for families, so we would just ask you ‘to do what you can!’

From Thursday 7th Jan, 21, keyworker and vulnerable children will attend   school and the  ECC   from 8.45-2.45pm.

Pupils will be supervised to access remote learning posted by their class teacher. School meals will be available as normal, packed lunches can be brought if you wish.
Please note that there will be a flexible drop off between 8.45-9am. Pupils will dismissed via the main door on the first day and pupils will be able to inform you of arrangements from the Friday. Masks should be worn when dropping off and picking up children.

Thursday 17th December – Santa comes to Hurlford !!

As we are unable to have Santa visit our school this year, Santa has agreed to come into the Community to wave to our children in our ECC and Primary.

On Thursday 17th December from 5pm to approx. 6pm, Santa will be driven along the following route to wave to our pupils. Staff will also come along too and join in the fun!

Why not come out into your garden or pavement and wave to Santa as he goes by? If Santa, is not visiting your street, please find a safe place to stand along the route and wave. Please note that Santa and staff will not be able to stop.

It is very important that everyone remembers social distancing and only stand in your family bubble.

The route is as follows:

SANTA ROUTE MAP

  • Depart Hurlford Primary, Union Street at 5pm
  • Turn left onto Riccarton Road
  • Turn left onto Dewalden Road
  • Then onto Morris Crescent
  • Turn left onto Blair Avenue
  • Then right onto Mauchline Road
  • Then along Kerrmuir Avenue
  • Turn right up Drumleyhill Drive
  • Then right onto Richardson Avenue
  • Then right onto Kerrmuir Avenue
  • Then right onto Liffnock Avenue
  • Right onto Mauchline Road
  • Left onto Academy Street
  • Right onto Union Street
  • Arrive Hurlford Primary.

This event has been carefully risk assessed and has been organised by the school, in discussion with East Ayrshire’s Events & Resilience Officer.

We hope that this event will bring some festive cheer to the community and that you will enjoy waving to Santa!

P7 Week beginning 7th December

Hello P7,

I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas lunches today!

Here is a reminder of your writing task for tomorrow, which I spoke to you about in class.  Your task will be to imagine you are a WW2 evacuee and you are writing a letter home to let your family know who you are staying with and how you are.  Talk to someone at home or have a think about the details you might include about your journey to the country and how you have settled in with your host family.  Think about the kind of feelings you would experience and how you would put them into writing.

Home Learning

– Log-on to Nessy at least twice for 15-30minutes.

-Explore the money games on Topmarks and email me to tell me which one you found most helpful.  Money games for kids (topmarks.co.uk)

-Remember to keep track of any acts of kindness for your kindness alphabet.

Let’s have a great week!

Mrs J
