P7 Monday 11th January

Good morning P7,

Welcome back, I hope you have all had a lovely time over Christmas and New Year and managed to stay safe and well.

I was very much looking forward to seeing you all now we’re in 2021, however, for the moment we will just have to keep in touch through email and Teams.

Please use our Teams group to find your tasks for each day.  I will also attach the daily tasks to this blog until we all get settled into locating everything on Teams.  All going well, you should find the daily diary and any other resources you need through the ‘General’ channel in our Team – as you can see in the image.  Please email me if you have any difficulties.

I am hoping to hold a short meeting with you this afternoon through the Teams group.  I have set the meeting for 2pm and hope that you will be able to take part so we can all catch up with each other.  If you are able to participate please ensure you read the ‘Online Rules’ document first.  You will find this on Teams in the general posts.

Well, let’s get started then, I’m looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing your work.

Have a great day,

Mrs J

P6W: week beginning 11th January 2021

Good morning Primary 6W,

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the holidays.  I’m sure you’ve had lots of fun playing outside in the recent snowy weather.  I’m looking forward to catching up with you all and finding out what you’ve been doing during the Christmas break.

I’m sure you are all raring to go with your home learning tasks and activities.  The link to today’s tasks is below my Glowmail address.  I hope you manage to give them a go and do the best you can.  You can send me your work as an email, or put it on a Word document and attach it to an email if you can remember how to do that.  You can also use a notebook or old jotter to record your work.  Please let me know if you have any questions and I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.  Remember to take a few short breaks and allow some time for fresh air and exercise.

Have a great day

Mrs Wilson

Finding Set Tasks On Education City

Once logged in, you will find work set by teachers either on the “Classwork” tile or “Homework” tile. Let’s use this example:

The class teacher has set a maths homework task on Education City. To access the task, click on the homework tile.

From there, you may see a number of options, in this case there is only one. To help, look out for either the name of the task set or look for a date that says “due on ____”. This will give you a better idea of which one to choose. You will also be able to see which teacher has given out the work.

When you click on the homework tasks, a new page will open up with the activities to complete. Each type of activity will be different depending on the intended learning and type of activity. You will see at the bottom of each tile if it is a numeracy, literacy or science task. This example shows numeracy tasks. The name of the activity is at the top followed by a short description of the intended learning. For example, “Swing A Ring” practises adding 3 numbers to 100.

Look at the small symbols on the top right corner of each activity. These let you know what type it is.

The puzzle piece symbol circled in green means it’s an activity. This is an interactive game your child will need to play and complete.

The pencil and worksheet symbol circled in yellow is a printable worksheet your child may print out and complete.

The blue screen with a play button circled in blue means it’s a learn screen. Your child will need to listen to the information and new learning. Nothing more is required other than listening and watching the short clip.

The thought bubble symbol circled in red means it’s a think it. Your child will be given a question to discuss or note down an answer to. This may be used in class for a further discussion.

You would do the same thing to access any classwork but by going into the “classwork” tile.

I hope this makes things easier and clearer for all at home! If there are any questions, please feel free to comment below.
