I’m sure you will all get some fresh air and exercise today whether it be on your bike or out in the garden. I missed my walk yesterday as I was at school and Mr Griffiths is working in Birmingham just now so I had no-one to look after Poppy the Pest of a Pup whilst Vhairi and I went out!
Missing you all!
Monday 15th June 2020
Good morning everyone! I can’t believe you are all in the last 2 weeks of primary 5!!
I hope that you had a lovely weekend. I had a very busy weekend chasing after and cleaning up after a young puppy called Poppy. She has taken to digging in the garden, so you can imagine the mess!!
Check in question: What did you get up to over the weekend?
Today I am going into school so I won’t be available to respond to you this morning, I’ll hopefully be back in the afternoon.
I have set you a few tasks for you today and remember the closing day is always Sunday:
Literacy
Spellling – oi phoneme
Spelling oi Phoneme 15.6.20
Contractions – making words smaller become smaller by using an apostrophe e.g. it is becomes it’s
Numeracy
Tiling Patterns
- Watch this BBC Bitesize revision video and play the game underneath. (I apologise that it is aimed at KS1, I really struggled to find a more advanced video). https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjv39j6/articles/zgxwfcw
- Play the Topmarks tiling games: https://www.nctm.org/Classroom-Resources/Illuminations/Interactives/Tessellation-Creator/ https://www.coolmath4kids.com/manipulatives/pattern-blocks https://mathigon.org/tangram Send me pictures of any interesting patterns that you make.
- Use Lego to create a tiling pattern, I have included an example below. The key is consistency. Keep the shape the same.
- Look around your house for different tiling patterns. What 2D shaes make up the pattern?
- If you have a printer try the tiling patterns on Isometric paper activity linked below. If not, squared paper also works really well for creating tiling patterns.
- If you have 2D shape blocks try to create a pattern.
- Look out tomorrow for a special tiling pattern art project.
Tiling Patterns on Isometric Dot Paper
Remember to try to get some exercise today as the weather has to be fairly nice until the afternoon I think!
Have a great day!
