It is very important to keep good hygiene in our minds at this time. Keep washing your hands properly several times each day. Here’s a reminder clip to watch how to do it right.

It is important for us to take a little time to keep active. Joe Wicks is on You Tube at 9.00am for 20 minutes on Mondays , Wednesdays and Fridays. Get active!
ALPHABET WORKOUT -give it a go!
Try to get some fresh air each day, by going for a walk or a cycle (remember to wear your helmet!) with an adult from your home, if it is safe to do so, or playing in your garden, if you have one.
Try to put on your jacket and fasten the zip or the buttons. Are you able to put your shoes/ boots on the correct feet and fasten them?
PATHS Compliments
In Onthank we use PATHS which promotes emotional and social well being. We discuss a range of feelings and how we can recognise what people are feeling.
Each day we have a Pupil of the Day (randomly selected) which all pupils are enjoying. Each pupil of the day is given compliments by the other children. They receive a certificate to take home with compliments written on it. Throughout the day the Paths Pupil is complimented by their peers and staff. They are also given privileges and responsibilities around the classroom for the day. We believe it is important that all children recognise what a compliment is and how it can make you feel when you give or receive a compliment.
PATHS(Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies)
This term we are using a health and wellbeing programme with our pupils called PATHS. This aims to help the children to develop their social skills by learning how to express how they feel, understand the feelings of others better and learn appropriate wYs to deal with negative feelings. This will be done through circle times and with the help of Twiggle the turtle and his puppet friends.
As part of the programme the children are going to be learning about compliments. Every day a pupil will be chosen to be Twiggle’s Special Helper – our Pupil of the Day and will receive compliments from the rest of the class. They will bring home a certificate with compliments.
The Pupil of the Day in each class will be given certain privileges eg teacher’s helper. When it’s your child’s turn we ask that you share a compliment about your child. We hope this will help your child to develop their self esteem and the support and respect they show each other as friends.
Meet Twiggle, Duke , Henrietta and Daphne.

Class Charters
Over the last few weeks each class has been busy creating their own unique Class Charters. They incorporate the rights chosen by pupils and teachers. All classes have decided how they will help to respect these rights as part of the behaviour policy. Each child has ‘signed’ the Charter by writing their name. These Charters form the basis of teaching and learning about rights and through rights during the year. Here are our Class Charters.
Our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors are a group of children from across the school who work to ensure that all members of our school community are made aware of the rights afforded to them through the UNCRC. They also ensure that Onthank Primary School respect the rights of others, making our school a happier, safer and more respectful place to learn and work. Here are our Primary 1 RRS Ambassadors.
