How We Learn (Schemas)

Hi everyone!

One of the ways children learn is through schemas. We focus on 7 different schemas within the 2-3 room, these are:

Transporting

Trajectory

Rotational

Enveloping

Orientation

Connecting

Enclosing

We have uploaded videos of an Early Years Practitioner talking about what each schema means and how you might see this in your child.

It is important to note that not all children will be involved in schematic play, and that is ok. Some children can also be involved with more than one schema at a time and that is also ok. Each child is an individual and learns differently. Schemas only discuss how some children learn about the world around them.

We have schema bags within the playroom for the children to explore to encourage more schematic play in our playrooms.

Here is a checklist for each bag in case you want to make your own for home:  Schema Bags

Enjoy the videos!
