Top Tips if you have Concerns about your Child’s Communication

Firstly, if you have any concerns about your child’s speech or communication, we would encourage you to pop in or phone and have a chat with one of the staff in the ECC. Pamela works with children who need support with their speech and language and is always happy to discuss your concerns.

Speech and Language Therapy in East Ayrshire also have some wonderful opportunities for you to access advice and support. You can call the helpline and speak to a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) on a Monday 09:30-11:30am or a Thursday 2-4pm on 07980919654. Alternatively, if you would like to attend a virtual drop-in session (video call) during which you can speak to a therapist or even let them hear your child talking, you can text 07812519298 to book an appointment. These appointments take place on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.

Using a dummy can potentially hinder your child’s ability to communicate. We are here to offer you support if you decide to ditch the dummy, and there is a useful leaflet here:
