I went to the zoo and I saw a game.

Good morning, happy Friday everyone.

Today I have a fun listening and memory game for you all called I went to the zoo and I saw a game.

here is a song to identify some zoo animals.

https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/songs/were-going-the-zoo

how to play the game.

choosing any animal names start the game by saying  “I went to the zoo and I saw a monkey”. Your child then responds with I went to the zoo and” I saw a monkey and lion”. You then respond with I went to the zoo and “I saw a monkey, lion and tortoise” and so on and so on.

Have Fun! x

Listening and action songs

Today we are going to continue being active, use our listening skills and develop our balance and co-ordination.

For a full workout, you can refer to Monday’s post for warm up and cool down ideas!

We can do exercises to  “Head, Shoulders, Knees and toes”.

Add in some body parts as you go along…like “Head, shoulders, knees and toes…elbows!”

Repeat getting faster as you go!

That’s too easy..let’s make it harder!

You can also sing the song, while leaving out random action words out, so we have to watch very carefully! For example, Head, (miss out saying shoulders), knees and toes.

Or for another challenge mix the words up! So you could do, toes, shoulder, head, nose!!

Repeat getting faster each time.

Is your heart beating yet?

“Simon Says”

Walk, jump, skip, hop, run, stretch up, sit down, lie down

Lets finish our workout with doing the Hokey Cokey! “That’s what it’s all about!”

These action songs have helped to keep our heart and body healthy!

Getting Ready for P1

Supporting your child’s independence with eating

  • Why not let your child help prepare their lunch and snacks with you and encourage using a knife and fork to eat their meals? Can they use them correctly to eat?
  • Make lunch times a little different and introduce their lunchbox to them (if you intend on providing a packed lunch).  Practice opening and closing the box, opening yoghurt cartons/tubes, opening crisps or peeling a banana.

You could also use playdough to make a lovely ‘lunch’ and learn the skill of using cutlery safely

Outdoor Learning – Obstical Course

Obstacle Course

Today I challenge you to make an obstacle course in your garden. Use what you can find and be creative for example-

get ball to be thrown into a bucket,

hop on one foot 5 times and them swap feet,

a skipping rope placed onto the ground to walk along,

do 10 star jumps,

run around the garden 3 times.

I am sure you will have much better ideas than me!

Challenge your family to take part and time each other. Who do you think will be the fastest?

Have fun!

Exploring shapes

Can you draw some shapes and cut them out? Maybe an adult could help you?
Then try to make a picture using the different shapes you have created, like the picture below.
