Good morning,
Many of our families have raised concerns about their child’s readiness for P1. Starting primary school can be daunting for you and your child, but it marks the start of an exciting new chapter. I want to reassure you all that we will be working closely together across the early level and much of the beginning of P1 will be about building relationships and establishing routines. Before you know it, your child will be making friends, learning new skills and becoming increasingly independent.
But how can you help them prepare for this big first step?
Over the next few weeks I am going to be sharing some ideas and tips on how you can help your child become more ready for learning.
This week is about supporting your child’s independence. Let’s start with the basics: Getting dressed
Remember to send in any video’s or pictures of your child’s progress. We will add all these to their Learning journal when we return, to support Miss Sloan in the beginning of their P1 journey 🙂

Tree Rubbings
Today when out for your daily walk why not take some paper and crayons, pencils or chalk and find trees, walls, pavements etc to take rubbing of.
Place the paper onto the object you find interesting and use the side of a crayon, pencil or chalk to rub over the surface to find out what the texture looks like.
Find different types and sizes of trees and compare the patterns that the bark makes.
House Rubbings
Why not take a rubbing of the bricks on your house, the pavement in your garden, your decking etc. Look at the different textures. How are these different from the tree?
Experiment
You can experiment with a wide range of items such as leaves, money toys etc
Have fun!

Good Morning Everyone!
After reciting your favourite nursery rhyme, why don’t you make a musical instrument to use when singing your rhyme? Find things from your house that you no longer need I.e cereal boxes, kitchen roll tubes and get someone living in your home to help.

Lewis had fun making this car wash out of cardboard boxes, toilet rolls, straws. He has hours of fun washing the many cars he has, he’s a busy boy hard at work.

Kyle has been really busy making his own COVID19 Time Capsule and wanted to share with everyone. He thinks it would be fun for all his friends at the ECC to do. Here is the link for you to download and print your own COVID 19 Time Capsule. https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/junior-school-time-capsule-activity-roi-tpcs-83

I’ve got a great idea! Lets have our own Tiger Tea party at home.
Who are you going to invite? Family? Favourite toys?
There are so many things we can do to get ready for our party;

You could also put on a costume and dress up for the party!
We can’t have a party without music and games.
Lets dance!
We can play musical bumps and musical statues.
This sounds like a great party!
If you have any party pictures then please send them in, we would love to see them!

Good morning,
Hope you are all well and are enjoying the experiences the ECC have been putting on the blog.
I have a little request, I hope you will like.
I am looking for you to take a short (approx. 10second) recording of your child waving at the camera, doing a dance or gymnastic move, pulling a funny face…. anything and email it to me at 19oneilltania@eastayrshire.org.uk by Friday 15th May.
We will then blend them all together and we will post this to the blog and also email to your child for them to keep.
We want to cheer everyone up and show we are all still very much together despite the world keeping us apart at the moment.
I look forward to seeing your clips.
Thank you
Tania
