Primary 1 had fun this afternoon learning all about car safety. Leading on from our whole school JRSO competition, P1 explored the importance of using car seats to travel safely. They then enjoyed drawing their own maps, creating their own textured traffic lights and building model cars. As part of their learning this afternoon P1 were also reading numbers on a number line whilst investigated how far toy cars travelled. Our story this afternoon came from the Road Safety Scotland website and can be read again at home by following the link below. Within the website you will also find lots of other road safety activities as well as parental information on the safe use of car seats.
We have received our first entry for the pirate boat building competition. A fabulous pirate ship made from bits and bobs and recycled materials ,Well done Eve! The question is when we test it will the sink or float?
We are excited to be trialling, on line, our Read Write Inc home readers . Some of you may remember that during lockdown we used the oxford owl free ebooks to keep our reading skills progressing. We now have access to all our read write books through the Oxford Owl Read Write Inc e- library. This is not meant to replace reading books but ensures a safer environment during these covid times and also helps us with the expenses of replacing lost or damaged copies. I shall assign a book to the children after the third read in class.
Tomorrow the children will be given their personal log ins. Please note these are different from the ones used during remote learning.
It is really important that the children are reading at home every night. 5 or 10 minutes is all that is usually required and of course a wee practise at their phonics.
We are so happy to have them back in class with us and amazed at how well they have adjusted.
Please click on the link above to complete the survey. This is for parents/carers of P4-P7 pupils.
In order to support our planning and preparation for our full school return next Monday (15th March 2021), we would appreciate if parents/carers of our P4-P7 pupil could click on the link above to complete the survey to allow us to gather pupil views.
Hello everyone, here is our home learning overview. This week we are going to have a look at Roman clothing and food, start work on angles and complete our work on plurals.
Can I ask a big favour to all the lovely mums in P1 ?Could you please send me a wee photo of you with your wee one. ? It would be great if you could do this asap. Many thanks in anticipation!
Just a wee catch up to tell you what super stars we have in P1. The children have been back now for 2 weeks and they have been amazing. Your interest support and caring during our lockdown has insured the children’s return to class has been smooth and without drama. They have been so excited to see their friends and to begin learning together again. You lovely parents have done a great job and the children are already progressing with their learning ,excited and enthusiastically. Some fantastic descriptive writing last week from our mini pirate topic. Over the next 2 weeks we shall be having a science focus as that was so well received during lockdown. (Stem)
Since you may be missing your learning together at home ……. look out for a wee home school project re ship building. Come on Jack, Jaxson and Ellis can you match that fantastic model making you shared during our space topic. More details to follow but you may want to start saving your wine corks and plastic trays..
We have had lots of fun during World Book Day. Some P4-7 pupils shared stories remotely for the ECC and P1-3. P1 enjoyed a story written by Matthew in P7 ‘The Runaway Easter Bunny’.
