This week we have been learning about the life of Roald Dahl to mark this years ‘Roald Dahl Day’ which is celebrated on 13th September each year. We were inspired by his humour and engaged in texts to increase our understanding of vocabulary by learning strategies to help us understand the meaning of words. We created art work of some key characters from his texts, in the style of Quentin Blake.

P6/7 Homework – Monday 13th September
Hello everyone, here is the homework grid for this week. We would also like to wish you a lovely long weekend.
Primary 2/3 Learning
In Primary 2/3 we have continued to learn all about place value up to 100. The class this week have been learning how to partition a number and place a number on a number-line.
In literacy the class have been enjoying active learning to support their phonics. The children have been using a range of resources to spell words with the sound of the day.
We have now finished our learning on the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and we are moving onto ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ next week chosen by the class to honour Roald Dahl day on Monday. Lastly, we’re hoping to attend the woods again on Monday so please ensure appropriate footwear and clothing is wore.

Primary 5/6 Active Maths
We have had a lovely Friday in Primary 5/6 with lots of different tasks. Today in maths we were revising place value with some fun games. The children all really enjoyed their building task – they had to create a key using colours to represent HTH, TTH, TH, H, T and U and then build something with their chosen colours. A partner had to then calculate the total value of their building.
Here are some pictures of their work ☺️

#WeArePrimaryOne
Our new sounds so far this week have been ‘n’ and ‘i’. We could practise writing these at home and finding things in our houses beginning with these sounds.
In maths we have now learned all about numbers 0-7, we will be looking at number 8 later in the week. Ask us all about these numbers at home! We have also been looking at ‘before’, ‘after’ and ‘in between’ using a number line.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar/mini-beasts is proving to be a popular topic. Mrs McLurkin even had to recue a huge spider that Mrs Boyd has safely hid under a cone yesterday morning. Mrs McLurkin says that she must remember that Mrs Boyd is scared of spiders when Halloween comes around this year ;). She says she has changed her planning for teaching us about number eight on Thursday too, we have no idea what she might mean.

P1 Homework
P1 homework jotters were sent home in school bags yesterday. Please see literacy and numeracy tasks inside. I would appreciate parent/carer initials on each task to indicate that they have been completed at home. Homework is due back in on Friday.
Thank you for your continued support.
