ECC Fun in the Sun 🌞

The children were making giant bubbles in the sunshine. They used hula hoops and soap to try and create big bubbles. Their language was fantastic using worlds like, huge and gigantic to describe them. They also encouraged each other and were developing their turn taking skills.

ECC – Transition to Primary 1

“Quality transitions that are well-prepared and child-centred, managed by trained staff collaborating with one another, and guided by an appropriate curriculum, enhance the likelihood that positive impacts of early learning and childcare will last through primary school and beyond.”

Realising The Ambition: Being Me – Education Scotland 2020

Within Fenwick Early Childhood Centre we understand the importance of transition periods in young children’s lives and we are keen to support your child in the best way possible. We aim to work alongside our Primary colleagues to ensure that your child has the opportunity to build positive relationships with Primary 1 staff and key adults within the school, therefore making this process as smooth as possible.
It is also of the upmost importance to us to work collaboratively with parents.
Please could you complete the questionnaire below to allow us to gather your views on your child’s transition into Primary 1.

ECC smelly table

We created a sensory experience for the children. There were items in the tubs which the children attempted to identify by using their sense of smell. Some were nice some not so much.
All of the children did not like the gravy granules, they did like the shower gel. The children also invited both Mrs Stark and Mrs McKillop to come and see what they could guess. Mrs McKillop was not keen on the milk!
