We are looking forward to celebrating all things digital next week at Catrine PS. Our pupils will be involved in a huge range of digital learning experiences, including making iMovies, ChatterPix, QR codes, GLOW posts and much, much more. Look out for class posts on their class GLOW blogs.
Catrine PS received national Digital Schools Scotland status in 2019, and we are now aiming to be awarded with the next level of Award from Digital Schools Scotland – The CRIS Award (Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety) so every class will also be teaching pupils how to stay safe online and reminding them of the importance of using digital technology correctly.
Christmas lunch will be served on Wednesday 9 December and is now available to book through ParentPay. Lunch MUST be ordered by Wednesday 2 December to allow the Cook ordering/preparation time.
P6/7 will be going for a walk around Catrine again tomorrow afternoon as part of their outdoor learning. Pupils should come to school wearing suitable clothing and footwear for the walk.
Thank you to everyone who ordered a class mug. Our order has been placed and we are so excited for them to arrive! The company has said it could take 2 weeks. Please see below the “proof” copy of Primary 1/2 – it looks amazing!!
With the darker mornings and poor weather – if your child is allowed to walk to and from school, now is a good time to have a wee conversation to reinforce the rules about walking straight to/home from school and not speaking to strangers.
If you are running late to collect your child at the end of the school day, please phone the office and arrangements can be made.
The safety of our pupils is a main priority, and by working together we can help to keep our children safe.
Hi 👋everyone! Here are the winners for the Avalon House Challenge. It was very difficult to choose as they were all so good but we had to pick winners. Thank you to everyone for taking part.
Please find below a copy of the class proofs sent to “School Bears” for production of our class mugs. The mugs cost £6.00 each and you can purchase as many as you want. Orders and payment must be paid through ParentPay by Thursday 19 November to confirm delivery before the Christmas Holiday (barcoded paypoint letters can be issued by telephoning the school office). Please accept our apologies for the short payment time but this is to ensure prompt delivery. If you wish any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

We are celebrating Book Week Scotland in our classes this week, with lots of focused activities on books, authors, illustrations, characters, story lines and plots…
Your child’s homework will also focus on books and stories, so we thank you in advance for finding the time to read and discuss books with them at home.
Our House Captains Challenge on Friday afternoon will also have a book theme.
Unfortunately, due to national guidance and data protection Education Scotland have directed that parents/carers can no longer have access to GLOW accounts.
As a result of this directive, we have updated all our infant pupil log-in details – this means that pupils can still upload their class work and targets onto their e-portfolio in class, but that parents/carers will not be able to access this at home or upload photos of their child’s homework onto their GLOW account.
Primary 1/2 and Primary 2 homework details will continue to be updated weekly on their class blogs under the ‘Home Learning’ tab. Miss Burleigh and Miss McLean will also continue to regularly post class photos and learning highlights on their class blog. We are disappointed that these changes have to be made but we must follow the national guidelines.
Please note that these changes only apply to infant pupils in Primary 1 and Primary 2.
Please contact the school for any further information. Thanks for your continued support.
NHS is scheduled to be in school on Friday 20 November to deliver the flu immunisations to the children. If you wish any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
In preparation for snow and ice we have updated our premises priority clearance plan. Our Janitor will ensure that the highlighted areas are cleared on snowy and icy days to let our pupils and staff enter and exit in a safe manner.
All pupils, staff and visitors are reminded to keep to the cleared areas and be respectful of current social distancing guidelines. Please click on the PDF below for further information:
