A huge thank you again to the Parent Council for organising a super Spring Disco. As you can see in the photos, we had a great time dancing the night away, playing games and enjoying our sweeties from the tuck shop.
The sun was shining and we had a lovely afternoon with our buddies at the ECC for our Teddy Bears Picnic. P1 came along with us too and enjoyed seeing the staff and their friends from last year.
Our Primary 6 pupils were so excited to meet their ECC buddies this afternoon!
They had a wonderful time getting to know to each other and are very much looking forward to being role models and helping our August P1 pupils settle into their new school.
This is the start of an extensive transition programme, keep checking the blog to follow our transition journey.
The Primary 7 pupils who attended Dolphin House have received their well deserved certificates for completing their Residential Programme.
All the pupils who attended displayed excellent skills in team work, problem solving, communication, organisation and so much more. All pupils were mannerly, supported each other and pushed themselves to try new activities and new food. All the staff were so proud of them and they should be proud of themselves too!
What a lovely afternoon some of us had the Over 50 club. We sang Christmas songs and got everyone into the Christmas spirit. We then chatted with the ladies and gentlemen and coloured some pictures and completed crossword puzzles together.
We think everyone enjoyed our visit and we certainly had lots of fun!
We are looking forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils on Wednesday – 21st August.
A reminder of the arrangements:
Pupils should arrive at the school infant gates at 9.30am.
Parents only should accompany pupils into the playground where there will be an opportunity for photos. (This will take place in the hall if it is raining.)
The pupils will then go to their classroom with Mrs Watt our classroom assistant.
Parents should collect their child at 2.30pm from the infant doors.
We will have an open afternoon on Tuesday 3rd September at 2.15pm once your child has settled in and they will be excited to show you their new classroom.
This morning 9 of our pupils ,along with Mrs Goudie, walked to Daldorch House to help with an exciting project!
Daldorch have been gifted plants from the Chelsea flower show and Jim Lochrie asked some of our pupils to come and help them plant these in Daldorch gardens.
Mrs Goudie selected pupils who are a great help in our own school and who always contribute enthusiastically to gardening activities, generally keeping our own school grounds looking lovely.
The pupils were a credit to our school and thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Daldorch where they planted at least four plants each. The pupils then also had a chance to have a look around Daldorch.
We would like to thank Jim and Paddy for making our pupils feel so welcome and for the amazing goody bag that they all took home.
We are so proud of Lucy, Brody and Emily who represented Catrine Primary School at the first Barony Burns Festival at Robert Burns Academy. Although we weren’t successful this time all three performed beautifully in front of the judges.
Emily said she loved the morning because she liked when she was saying her poem.
Brody thought he had done well and he enjoyed the shows and entertainment that was put on. He also said it was nice to see some friends from other schools.
Lucy loved that she got the opportunity to take part in the Scot’s Verse competition at the Robert Burns Academy.
Primary 6 have now had two visits to the ECC to get to know their new buddies for next year. They have been amazing so far and we are sure they are going to be super buddies and role models.
Thank you to everyone who came along to our ceilidh and made it such a brilliant night! Everyone certainly had on their dancing shoes and we were so proud of our pupils who showed off all the dances they have been learning in PE as well as learning some new ones.
A big thank you to Stephen, Sean, Kirsten and Jack in the band for giving up their time and supporting the school.
Our final day at Dolphin House has been busy too. We had to strip our beds and pack our cases before our final dorm inspection. Well done to Georgia, Millie and Layla who gained the most points over the week for the tidiest dorm.
We completed an orienteering course this morning before doing a treasure hunt around Culzean park then ended our week roasting marshmallows around the campfire.
What a fantastic week where we have challenged ourselves to try new activities, tried new foods, worked as a team, developed our independence, persevered when things got hard, followed instructions and spent a whole week with no electronics! We even managed to squeeze in a game of tig while waiting for the bus.
What a busy first day we have had! It’s been a beautiful but chilly day but that hasn’t stopped us enjoying the outdoors. Team games, exploring Culzean, making up our beds, trying new food, playing in the park then back to the park for hide and seek under the stars .
What a fantastic night we had last night at our Christmas Fayre. Thank you to everyone who came along and played our games, bought our crafts and enjoyed a cuppa with friends. Look out for our grand total on a blog post next week.
