We are looking forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils on Wednesday – 21st August.
A reminder of the arrangements:
This morning 9 of our pupils ,along with Mrs Goudie, walked to Daldorch House to help with an exciting project!
Daldorch have been gifted plants from the Chelsea flower show and Jim Lochrie asked some of our pupils to come and help them plant these in Daldorch gardens.
Mrs Goudie selected pupils who are a great help in our own school and who always contribute enthusiastically to gardening activities, generally keeping our own school grounds looking lovely.
The pupils were a credit to our school and thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Daldorch where they planted at least four plants each. The pupils then also had a chance to have a look around Daldorch.
We would like to thank Jim and Paddy for making our pupils feel so welcome and for the amazing goody bag that they all took home.
We are so proud of Lucy, Brody and Emily who represented Catrine Primary School at the first Barony Burns Festival at Robert Burns Academy. Although we weren’t successful this time all three performed beautifully in front of the judges.
Emily said she loved the morning because she liked when she was saying her poem.
Brody thought he had done well and he enjoyed the shows and entertainment that was put on. He also said it was nice to see some friends from other schools.
Lucy loved that she got the opportunity to take part in the Scot’s Verse competition at the Robert Burns Academy.
Thank you again to the parent council and to DJ Billy for yet another amazing disco last night.
Today we said goodbye to Miss Caughie as she heads off on her new adventure.
We wish her all the very best!
Primary 6 have now had two visits to the ECC to get to know their new buddies for next year. They have been amazing so far and we are sure they are going to be super buddies and role models.
Thank you to everyone who came along to our ceilidh and made it such a brilliant night! Everyone certainly had on their dancing shoes and we were so proud of our pupils who showed off all the dances they have been learning in PE as well as learning some new ones.
A big thank you to Stephen, Sean, Kirsten and Jack in the band for giving up their time and supporting the school.
Our final day at Dolphin House has been busy too. We had to strip our beds and pack our cases before our final dorm inspection. Well done to Georgia, Millie and Layla who gained the most points over the week for the tidiest dorm.
We completed an orienteering course this morning before doing a treasure hunt around Culzean park then ended our week roasting marshmallows around the campfire.
What a fantastic week where we have challenged ourselves to try new activities, tried new foods, worked as a team, developed our independence, persevered when things got hard, followed instructions and spent a whole week with no electronics! We even managed to squeeze in a game of tig while waiting for the bus.
What a busy first day we have had! It’s been a beautiful but chilly day but that hasn’t stopped us enjoying the outdoors. Team games, exploring Culzean, making up our beds, trying new food, playing in the park then back to the park for hide and seek under the stars ✨.
What a fantastic night we had last night at our Christmas Fayre. Thank you to everyone who came along and played our games, bought our crafts and enjoyed a cuppa with friends. Look out for our grand total on a blog post next week.
For a night to be as successful as this it takes a lot of team work and kind donations. We would like to say thank you to :
Prize Winners
Thanks again everyone and have a very Merry Christmas
Hi a wee reminder that our school street is open on Saturdays and Sundays all day.
On Monday to Friday it is not open in these times 8:45am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 3:20pm.
Please keep your cars out of our school street and keep our pupils safe!

A warm welcome to Miss Caughie who will be our P3/4 teacher next session.
Miss Caughie was in school yesterday to meet the pupils who will be in her class and she is very much looking forward to joining Catrine Primary School in August.
Here is a video of Miss Caughie introducing herself.
Well done to everyone who took part in walk to school week!
Walk to School Week will take place from Monday 15th May til Friday 19th May.
Pupils are encouraged to walk to school every day and the Junior Road Safety Officers have decided the themes for each day.
Monday – odd sock day
Tuesday – walk with a teddy
Wednesday – back to front day
Thursday – messy hair day
Friday – dress down day
Our JRSOs would like to remind everyone that Catrine Primary is a Street School and cars are restricted on the roads around the school at dropping off and collection times. Thank you for helping us to keep our pupils safe as they walk to school.
Caleb and Connor in P6
Our second group of nursery children came a visit to the school today.
Again, Primary 6 buddies were great role models as they safely walked their buddies from the ECC to the school.
Our P6 buddies were very responsible yesterday in making sure our first group of ECC children made it safely to the school for their first visit into their new P1 class.
We were very proud of the way they spoke to their buddies and reminded them of how to cross the roads safely.
Make sure you look on the P1 blog on Friday to see more photos of how our new P1’s got on in their class.
What a great turn out we had for chess club last night. Our pupils and parents had a lovely time, some learning chess for the first time and some sharing and practising their skills.
Below is a really useful app to help your child with quick maths recall. It focuses on subitising, adding, subtracting, multiplication (including times tables) and division.
This app is free, just search for 1-minute maths in your app store.
