Welcome Primary 1

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils on Wednesday – 21st August.

A reminder of the arrangements:

  • Pupils should arrive at the school infant gates at 9.30am.
  • Parents only should accompany pupils into the playground where there will be an opportunity for photos. (This will take place in the hall if it is raining.)
  • The pupils will then go to their classroom with Mrs Watt our classroom assistant.
  • Parents should collect their child at 2.30pm from the infant doors.
  • We will have an open afternoon on Tuesday 3rd September at 2.15pm once your child has settled in and they will be excited to show you their new classroom.

Visit to Daldorch House

This morning 9 of our pupils ,along with Mrs Goudie, walked to Daldorch House to help with an exciting project!

Daldorch have been gifted plants from the Chelsea flower show and Jim Lochrie asked some of our pupils to come and help them plant these in Daldorch gardens.

Mrs Goudie selected pupils who are a great help in our own school and who always contribute enthusiastically to gardening activities, generally keeping our own school grounds looking lovely.

The pupils were a credit to our school and thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Daldorch where they planted at least four plants each.  The pupils then also had a chance to have a look around Daldorch.

We would like to thank Jim and Paddy for making our pupils feel so welcome and for the amazing goody bag that they all took home.

Barony Burns Festival

We are so proud of Lucy, Brody and Emily who represented Catrine Primary School at the first Barony Burns Festival at Robert Burns Academy. Although we weren’t successful this time all three performed beautifully in front of the judges.

Emily said she loved the morning because she liked when she was saying her poem.

Brody thought he had done well and he enjoyed the shows and entertainment that was put on. He also said it was nice to see some friends from other schools.

Lucy loved that she got the opportunity to take part in the Scot’s Verse competition at the Robert Burns Academy.

Ceilidh

Thank you to everyone who came along to our ceilidh and made it such a brilliant night!  Everyone certainly had on their dancing shoes and we were so proud of our pupils who showed off all the dances they have been learning in PE as well as learning some new ones.

A big thank you to Stephen, Sean, Kirsten and Jack in the band for giving up their time and supporting the school.

Final day at Dolphin House

Our final day at Dolphin House has been busy too. We had to strip our beds and pack our cases before our final dorm inspection. Well done to Georgia, Millie and Layla who gained the most points over the week for the tidiest dorm.

We completed an orienteering course this morning before doing a treasure hunt around Culzean park then ended our week roasting marshmallows around the campfire.

What a fantastic week where we have challenged ourselves to try new activities, tried new foods, worked as a team, developed our independence, persevered when things got hard,  followed instructions and spent a whole week with no electronics! We even managed to squeeze in a game of tig while waiting for the bus.

Walk to School Week 15th-19th May

Walk to School Week will take place from Monday 15th May til Friday 19th May.

Pupils are encouraged to walk to school every day and the Junior Road Safety Officers have decided the themes for each day.

Buddies

Our P6 buddies were very responsible yesterday in making sure our first group of  ECC children made it safely to the school for their first visit into their new P1 class.

We were very proud of the way they spoke to their buddies and reminded them of how to cross the roads safely.

Make sure you look on the P1 blog on Friday to see more photos of how our new P1’s got on in their class.
