Christmas Crackers at Catrine Primary School

Catrine PS pupils (and staff!) have been busy over the past few weeks preparing short Christmas videos to share with you.  Please visit the class blogs to see the following fantastically festive treats:

Primary 1/2 – The Christmas Rappers

 Primary 2 – A Christmas Poem

Primary 3 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Primary 4/5 – The Christmas Joke Show

Primary 5/6 and Primary 6/7 have worked miracles!  They’ve created ‘A Socially Distanced Nativity’ featuring both classes whilst never coming into contact/working together/crossing bubbles. Well done!!

Please look at the SWAY link on the previous post to watch their fantastic performance of “A Socially Distanced Nativity”.

Jotters home

We are aware that due to current circumstances, parents and carers have been unable to look through their child’s class jotters to see their wonderful work and great progress. All pupil jotters are coming home today and should be returned to school next week. Jotters are coming home in a protective bag and should be returned in the same bag. When the jotters come back into school they will be quarantined until January 2021, to keep everyone safe. Included with the jotters is a parental feedback form. Please write a little comment to let us know how your child is getting on.

Thank you for your continued support.

Parents’ Day/Night update

Thank you to everyone who enjoyed a blether with their child’s class teacher last night. All our staff commented on how lovely it was to let parents/carers know how well their child is progressing and to share their next learning targets for Term 3. We were delighted with the uptake. Here are the stats:

Primary 1/2 75%
Primary 2 72%
Primary 3 67%
Primary 4/5 67%
Primary 5/6 75%
Primary 6/7 76%

We are winners!

Catrine Primary School was delighted to welcome some surprise visitors this afternoon. Fortress Security had organised a prize raffle for all the schools they support and Catrine Primary School were the lucky winners! Our 2 special visitors presented our Janitor, Mr McCreath, and our school Captains with a “treat” for every pupil. A great way to end a Wednesday afternoon.

Our Mugs are here!!

We are delighted to let you know that our class mugs, that we were selling as a festive fundraiser, have arrived. To ensure they make it home in “one piece” we would prefer if they were collected by an adult from the main entrance. Therefore, if you have ordered a mug you can come to school between 9.30 a.m. – 10.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. – 2.55 p.m. on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December. To keep our children safe, these are the only times you will be able to enter our school grounds. PLEASE NOTE all social distancing guidelines MUST be followed by all visitors to the school (face coverings must be worn). Please bring a bag with you.

We think you will be really happy with the mugs. Thank you for your continued support!

On behalf of EAC

As you may be aware, the Scottish Government plan to launch a new national travel concession scheme to provide free bus travel for young people under the age of 19. They anticipate that legislation to underpin the scheme would be required to be laid in Parliament in early 2021 and the scheme would come into effect later in 2021.

For the next six weeks (until Monday 7th December), Transport Scotland are running a consultation in regards to this scheme to gather information on the most appropriate ways to provide this free travel to best suit young people. They are hoping the consultation will reach as many members of the public as possible, especially to those who will be impacted by the proposals, including children and young people, their parents and carers and people who work with children in a paid or voluntary capacity.

The consultation can be found on https://www.transport.gov.scot/consultation/consultation-on-free-bus-travel-for-people-resident-in-scotland-aged-under-19/

More information on the proposed scheme can be found on https://www.transport.gov.scot/news/consulting-on-free-bus-travel-for-young-people-under-19/

Digital Learning Week at Catrine Primary School

We are looking forward to celebrating all things digital next week at Catrine PS.  Our pupils will be involved in a huge range of digital learning experiences, including making iMovies, ChatterPix, QR codes, GLOW posts and much, much more.  Look out for class posts on their class GLOW blogs.

Catrine PS received national Digital Schools Scotland status in 2019, and we are now aiming to be awarded with the next level of Award from Digital Schools Scotland – The CRIS Award (Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety) so every class will also be teaching pupils how to stay safe online and reminding them of the importance of using digital technology correctly.
