With our school closing on Friday 18th December for the Christmas holidays, please see the arrangements for the end of the school day.
Primary 1/2, Primary 3 and Primary 5/6 – will finish school at 2.30pm
Primary 2, Primary 4/5 and Primary 6/7 – will finish school at 2.40pm
To keep everyone safe, and following all the national guidelines, every class has been staying in their ‘class bubbles’ since August and we will be continuing with our staggered start and finish times when we return to school in January 2021.
Catrine PS pupils (and staff!) have been busy over the past few weeks preparing short Christmas videos to share with you. Please visit the class blogs to see the following fantastically festive treats:
Primary 1/2 – The Christmas Rappers
Primary 2 – A Christmas Poem
Primary 3 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Primary 4/5 – The Christmas Joke Show
Primary 5/6 and Primary 6/7 have worked miracles! They’ve created ‘A Socially Distanced Nativity’ featuring both classes whilst never coming into contact/working together/crossing bubbles. Well done!!
Please look at the SWAY link on the previous post to watch their fantastic performance of “A Socially Distanced Nativity”.
Primary 6/7 will be having a movie afternoon on Thursday and would like to watch the film ‘Home Alone’ which has a PG rating. If you do not want your child to watch the film please contact the school.
Tomorrow, Monday 14th December, P3 are hoping to go a Winter walk around Catrine. Please ensure your child is suitably dressed for our walk.
If your child has a Christmassy hat or head piece they would like to wear for their walk I’m sure they would spread some Christmas cheer to those we pass.

In line with new Scottish Government guidelines, it is expected for all parents/carers to wear a face covering when they are dropping off and picking up their children at our school gates.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this national advice.
We are aware that due to current circumstances, parents and carers have been unable to look through their child’s class jotters to see their wonderful work and great progress. All pupil jotters are coming home today and should be returned to school next week. Jotters are coming home in a protective bag and should be returned in the same bag. When the jotters come back into school they will be quarantined until January 2021, to keep everyone safe. Included with the jotters is a parental feedback form. Please write a little comment to let us know how your child is getting on.
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed a blether with their child’s class teacher last night. All our staff commented on how lovely it was to let parents/carers know how well their child is progressing and to share their next learning targets for Term 3. We were delighted with the uptake. Here are the stats:
Thank you Catrine Primary School kitchen for the fantastic Xmas lunch served to our ECC, primary pupils and staff yesterday. It was an absolute treat!!! This was the first time in many years that an Xmas lunch has been cooked on site …… and we look forward to many more!
Over the past term P5/6 have been working really hard to improve their fitness. We have gradually built up our times with our aim being to be able to run without stopping for 10 mins. Tomorrow we hope to reach our goal by heading out into the community for our first 10 min run.
If your child is in P5/6 please ensure they come to school with old trainers as it may be a bit muddy underfoot. A light waterproof jacket is also a good idea or an old jumper or fleece you don’t mind getting wet and muddy.
The children will be accompanied by Mrs Schendel and Mrs Watt and we will all stick together as a group.
Catrine Primary School was delighted to welcome some surprise visitors this afternoon. Fortress Security had organised a prize raffle for all the schools they support and Catrine Primary School were the lucky winners! Our 2 special visitors presented our Janitor, Mr McCreath, and our school Captains with a “treat” for every pupil. A great way to end a Wednesday afternoon.
Sophie came 3rd in this year’s Jeane Freeman MSP’s Christmas card competition. Morrison Construction sponsored this year’s competition and they have donated £50.00 to our school fund.
HUGEcongratulations to Sophie for her achievement.
Please note due to COVID regulations and the health & safety of all children and staff within the school you MUST telephone the school office on 01290 551436 to make arrangements to pick up class mugs that have been ordered.
