💛25th November

From Nursery Rhyme Week to beginning to explore our senses indoors and out, we have had a busy month! The children have been singing Rhymes, making soup for the spiders, mixing up some delicious lemonade in line with beginning to explore their senses, mark making and exploring words through puzzles. They have all been involved and had great fun exploring the various experiences throughout the rooms and green space.

💛 11th of November

Over the past couple of weeks we have been exploring the human body in the Gruffalo room whilst in the Elmer room, the kids had access to wonderful firework learning experiences.

Ava loved using the dice outside. She had great fun with her friends following the instruction in which it landed on. Above, you can see Ava skipping.

Charlotte took a great interest in the babies. She took her time in learning how to put on the vest and made sure she had every last popper done!

Allan enjoyed using the light box to see the skeleton beneath our bodies, he did a great job of identifying the legs and then pointing to the same area of his own.

Matthew took an interest in building a rocket outdoors. He displayed great problem solving when he discovered the best way to get his friend inside it was to lift it up over his head.

I often find Braxton with a paintbrush in hand and when it came to fireworks it was no different. He was inspired by the two images of the easel and used fantastic brushstrokes to create his own beautiful firework display.

Aaron has loved exploring the different parts of his body he can use for moving the ball. Above, he had great fun flinging the ball up into the air then catching it. He also enjoyed kicking it around.

Busy Week in Group A

This week in Group A the children have been really busy making their own interpretations of fireworks and have been using lots of descriptive language.  We have had lots of messy fun 😀

We have been learning about body parts and the correct names.  The children were enjoying using their friends to investigate parts of the body and label them correctly 💕

Tuesday 9th June Daily Challenge

Good morning everyone, I hope all is well! Today I have a fun building activity for you all.

I want you to see how creative you can get with your letters and see what things around the home you could use to build the letters of your name and if this is super easy for you then start exploring building other members of your families names!

Remember to send over some of your photos to me!

Tuesday 2nd June- Health week- How many in 1 minute?

Good morning all! Today, I have a super ‘how many in a minute?’ challenge for yous all where yous will find out how many of each exercise yous can all do in one minute!

Firstly, lets remember that stretching is super important to avoid injury so lets start off with a few stretches that Active Apple Man does before any workout;

  • First lets stretch up tall and touch our toes 10 times.
  • Then lets sit on our bottoms, stretch our legs out wide and stretch forward 10 times.
  • Then up we get and stand like a star and stretch over to one side for a count of 5 and then stretch over to our other side for a count of 5.
  • Finally, lets jog on the spot for a count of 10 and then lets get going

Tuesday 19th May- Daily challenge

Good morning boys and girls, Teddy has a quick message for you all which leads on to todays literacy challenge.

Teddy had great fun making this letter collage for you! Now, you can make a lovely collage of your own!

Cut and stick logos from magazines, food packaging etc. Create what you like with these, whether this be a poster like teddies or a lovely rainbow using the variety of colours from the logo, its all down to your own creativity!

Whilst cutting… Do you recognise any of the logos? Can you spot any letters from your name?

Tuesday 5th May – Daily Task

Good morning boys and girls 🙂

Today, I have a super fun challenge for you all!
We are going to play hide and seek with our favourite teddy/toy!

Firstly adults, let’s role model for the kids to understand how this goes. Choose a large teddy/toy together to hide around the house/garden. Practice counting to 10 (if they are confident with their counting up to 10, practice counting backwards from 10)  and use positional language clues such as “teddy is under/next to/behind etc…” to help your child find it, and then switch roles! This is a great activity to build on their communication and language as well as their mathematical development!

Before you start, can you find my pink bunny pug? Clue: it is inside a bucket!

2PM LITERACY CHALLENGE.

Good afternoon everyone!
This afternoons focus is on Elmer the Elephant!

A super activity to create some artwork from a fantastic book! Have a lovely afternoon story time, reading “Elmer the Elephant” or listen to the story through the link below. Then, have some fun making an Elmer lantern! First, take an empty milk carton and mark it up like shown below. Then, cut along the lines to get your elephants body and let your child decorate it with lots of bright colours whether this be glitter, tissue paper, sequins, pens or paints! Finally, once its dry, if you have a LED tea light or some fairy lights place them inside and see the colours shine!

10AM LITERACY CHALLENGE.

Good morning everyone, I hope yous have all been enjoying the weather the past few days! I’ve personally had great fun weeding the garden!
With the sun coming out again today, let’s get outdoors and enjoy some water play!

There are various options for carrying out our literacy challenge today! These are as follows:

  1. Chalk up a variety of lower-case letters onto your fence/path and provide your child with a hose/water gun/spray bottle. Say the letters sound (not the letter names) and let them take aim and wash the letter away. If they wash away the wrong letter, simply let them know what one it was they washed away- “Oh that was the ‘pi’ you washed away, could we try find the ‘gi’ now?”
  2. If you don’t have any chalk at hand, wet a paint brush and encourage your child to write their name and other familiar words on the ground or simply just mark make.
  3. Write your child’s name with chalk and as they wash away the letters say those letters to your child to encourage their understanding of the letters in their name- and of course you can include any other familiar words!
  4. As an extra fun additional activity, you could chalk a fire on to a garden shed/wall/fence and let your child role play as a firefighter!

Most importantly- have fun, stay safe in the sun and remember to forward any pictures on to Alana!
