10AM LITERACY CHALLENGE.

Good morning everyone, I hope yous have all been enjoying the weather the past few days! I’ve personally had great fun weeding the garden!
With the sun coming out again today, let’s get outdoors and enjoy some water play!

There are various options for carrying out our literacy challenge today! These are as follows:

  1. Chalk up a variety of lower-case letters onto your fence/path and provide your child with a hose/water gun/spray bottle. Say the letters sound (not the letter names) and let them take aim and wash the letter away. If they wash away the wrong letter, simply let them know what one it was they washed away- “Oh that was the ‘pi’ you washed away, could we try find the ‘gi’ now?”
  2. If you don’t have any chalk at hand, wet a paint brush and encourage your child to write their name and other familiar words on the ground or simply just mark make.
  3. Write your child’s name with chalk and as they wash away the letters say those letters to your child to encourage their understanding of the letters in their name- and of course you can include any other familiar words!
  4. As an extra fun additional activity, you could chalk a fire on to a garden shed/wall/fence and let your child role play as a firefighter!

Most importantly- have fun, stay safe in the sun and remember to forward any pictures on to Alana!
