Busy week

This week we have explored colour, pattern and texture through bubble painting, this fun activity also introduces scientific concepts into our learning

….we have also developed motor skills by chipping away the ice to reveal the animal, here we also had the opportunity to use our problem solving skills to work out the best tools to use….

….and our bookbug session helped develop our listening, concentration, and language skills as well as teaching us about turn taking and sharing.

The Wee Rid Motor – Robert Burns

With Burns day fast approaching on 25th January we will be listening to some Scottish music and Poems over the next few weeks within the ECC.   We have chosen a well known Scottish poem The Wee Rid Motor 🚘 that you can help your child to learn at home if they wish.

You can send us a wee short video of them reciting the poem and as part of our Burns Day Celebrations the children that wish to will have an opportunity to recite the poem for their friends within the ECC.

we had some special visitors at the ECC  this past week.

We have enjoyed exploring some ice play where we used some mathematical language and using descriptive words.

And having some lovely Christmas stories at our lovely home corner.

Christmas fun🌲

This week within the birch room the children have enjoyed their Christmas party. We played some party games and enjoyed dancing and playing in the gym hall.

We have started our Christmas crafts and been learning all about the Christmas story and playing with our nativity figures.

Just like Santa and his elves we have been exploring the wrapping station to wrap some presents for under our Christmas tree.

Christmas time

Christmas preparations have begun, we have decorated our own tree, had fun with related transient art, made a fire place for Santa and created some Christmas decorations, over the coming weeks there will be lots more opportunities to learn and develop through some fun Christmas themed activities, who said maths literacy and English has to be boring 🤗, let the fun times commence🎅 🌲

Saint Andrews day

We created our own flag to celebrate Scotland’s patron saint

…..

….We then made some shortbread, the children used scales to measure out the ingredients and mixed it together using a wooden spoon, they then cut out their own biscuit using a cutter, at snack time all children were pleased to sample their own work.

Massage

Because we have been focusing on mindfulness we introduced massage to the children, we followed some simple actions to the song twinkle twinkle little star. Before we begin we ask permission if they would like to have a massage and use this as another tool to help us be calm.

Safety

We have been learning about how to stay safe.

we added a road safety zone to the garden where we practiced crossing the road safely.

we also practiced how to stay safe when we have our camp fire within the garden and went over the rules again.
