Term 3 is a very exciting time for us in primary 1, we have lots of new learning to explore.

Primary 1 Term 3 Overview

PC McPike came to our classroom to tell us all about her job within the school. She showed us some of her special equipment and what it may be used for.  We also got to ask her lots of questions that we prepared together.

All of primary one went a walk in the local community.  We explored shops, where to find the local post box and bus stop and we even found where the local chip shop was.  This helped our learning about our local community as we didn’t know where to find everything.

Every week we get to spend time with our buddies. The primary 7 pupils have been reading to us.  We like it when they add lots of expression to their reading.

Miss Cunningham in primary 5 arranged lots of exciting activities for us to do in the class for Chinese New Year, however, our favourite part was taking part in the Dragon Parade with the rest of the school.  We got to show everyone the dragons we made.

Primary 1 had their first visit to the nursing home.  We took some of our favourite school activities to share with the lovely ladies and gentleman.

We can not wait to go back!

Welcome to 1M and Mrs McDade!

Term 1

The children are settling in nicely to Primary 1 and the routines of school.  This term our topic is Marvellous Me, helping the class find out about one another and their families.  The children have been enthusiastically sharing their All About Me bags!

In Literacy we follow the EA Literacy programme, learning sounds and completing lots of activities to support and extend phonological awareness.  The children will learn 2 sounds most weeks with consolidation weeks after each group.

In Numeracy we are focussing on numbers to 10:- recognition and formation; counting forward and back; 1 to 1 correspondence; position (before, after and in-between); sequencing and ordering.

Our 1^st homework block will start w/c 18^th Sept until 24^th Nov.

We look forward to seeing you at our Meet and Greet session on Wed 13^th Sept (1.45pm – 2.45pm).  This will give you the opportunity to see our busy classroom.
