A huge thank you to our local Morrisons Community Champion who dropped off a donation of food items to the school today.  This assistance allows us to provide ongoing breaktime snacks and meals to pupils and their families in our Loanhead PS community who would benefit the most from this.

This type of support is invaluable to many families just now and we would ask that anyone finding themselves in a position were a little help would make a huge difference then please contact Mrs Milne who, in complete confidence, will do everything we can to help.

Happy New Year and I hope that you are all safe and well.
Again we have entered a period of “Remote Learning”.  As a school we are working and adapting our practice and we will be delivering remote learning in the following way.

All classes will have core material (essentials), independent work (work that can be completed without anyone else parent or sibling) and good to try (extras if your children need to have something else to do).

Beginning on a Monday 11^th staff will publish a weekly grid of learning including these three types of learning experiences.  This should help parents see how it will work in and around the family week.  Teachers will be online to provide feedback to the children and support them during the school day unless they are in the school hub supporting our Key Worker and Vulnerable Children.  We are aware that children will be accessing at different times of the day to suit family life which may be outwith the school hours and therefore they may need to wait at least until the following day before receiving feedback.

Teams will be used by children to upload any work that they want the teacher to see and feedback on.  We have tried to tackle the problems and issues parents raised via the feedback forms completed at the end of the last lockdown and from the homework feedback.

P1 Registration to attend school, for children whose 5^th birthday falls between 1 March 2021 and 28 February 2022 takes place during the week Monday 11 January 2021 until Friday 15 January 2021.

To register please complete the P1 Registration form at http://eastayrshi.re/enrolAtSchool no later than Friday 15 January 2021.

If you are unable to register online then please phone your local school who will assist you to register your child.

To register your child you will require to upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate and two proofs of your residence in the catchment area in the form of a Council Tax Notice or Utility Bill.  Should you require a copy of your child’s birth certificate for Registration, this can be obtained at www.certificates.scot

The children worked hard to make beautiful Christmas cards for two of our local care and residential homes.  These cards and some small gifts for staff and residents were delivered before Christmas having been quarantined beforehand.  We wish all of our friends and families in our community a warm, safe and healthy festive season.

Letter to all parents and carers – 22.12.20

This week pupils had a very different experience from our usual annual school visit  to see the Panto.  This year Panto came to us! Everyone enjoyed watching an online panto with their own class on the large screen via the Promethean boards in their classrooms.  A special shout out to Friends of Loanhead who helped bring this to us by making a donation to cover the cost of this happening.  Thank you to you all from everyone at Loanhead Primary School.
