U13 take on Garnock Academy Wednesday 16th – Bus leaves PE at 1:15pm and pupils require to be collected from the School around 5:30pm.
U14 take on Ardrossan Academy Thursday 17th – Bus leaves PE at 12:45pm and pupils require to be collected from the School around 5pm.
U16 take on Largs Academy Wednesday 16th – Bus leaves 12:45pm and pupils require to be collected from Cumnock RFC around 3:30pm.

Friday 28th October saw the S1-3 and S4-6 Auchinleck Academy handball teams make the journey up the M74 to Ravenscraig, Motherwell to compete against the best school teams in the country.
The S1-3 team started with two tough group games against Our Lady’s from Cumbernauld and Largs Academy, before a better display against Kyle Academy saw them make the 5th/6th playoff game against Belmont Academy. With two quick goals from Captain Ailey Porter the team relaxed into a commanding and comfortable finish. With a number of new players in this team the future is looking very bright.
The S4-6 started off as they meant to go on. Shocking last years finalists and missing out on the final by 1 goal. With nothing separating us and Linlithgow Academy in the 3rd place match we went to penalties. Tied after 5 penalties each, sudden death loomed and Rebecca Morrison stepped up with the decisive penalty. Amy Murdoch still had to save their last penalty to see us finish 3rd in Scotland! She did and we are.
A fantastic achievement for the girls, again many of who were either new to handball this tournament or started last year.
Friday 7th October saw Auchinleck Academy undertake their second charity day in partnership with Mary’s Meals, as we aimed to get closer to our target of sponsoring a school in Liberia, Africa.
After a successful ‘wear blue’ day at the end of last term, Friday’s events involved a sponsored walk, sponsored cycle and sponsored silence. Pupils were given a choice as to what event they wanted to participate in and the uptake was great! The walk was to Dumfries House and both staff and pupils thoroughly enjoyed the dry October weather. The cycle took place in the PE department where pupils cycled in groups. Their hard work and effort has to be highlighted, with some pupils cycling non-stop for over 20 minutes. The sponsored silence took place in the library where the pupils involved managed to stay silent for almost two hours – no mean feat for some! There was also a highly successful staff coffee morning and bake sale.
Together we managed to smash our target and raise a massive £4,177.52! This will allow us to feed all of the pupils in a primary school in Liberia for a full year. What an amazing achievement and excellent team effort! Huge thanks to all of the pupils who got involved, and to the parents, carers, friends and relatives who sponsored pupils or provided donations – your efforts will make a huge difference to young people’s lives! Thanks also to the Rights Respecting School group and to all of the pupils and staff who helped to organise these events.
On Thursday the last of our handball teams qualified for the Scottish Finals.
The S5/6 boys went to this tournament undefeated and although having close games against both Kyle Academy and Belmont Academy, on the day Auchinleck proved to be too strong.
Stand out performances came from Kamran Mustafa and Michael Miller but all in all a fantastic team performance.
This makes us the first ever school in Scotland to have all teams qualify for the finals in Ravenscraig, Motherwell.
The next Parent Council Meeting due to take place on Tuesday 25th October at 7pm in the Head Teacher’s room has been postponed until Tuesday 1st November at 7pm.
As our School of Rugby goes from strength to strength we are delighted that SCRUM Magazine included an article highlighting the good work going on in Auchinleck Academy with Youth Rugby.

All S1 pupils are invited to participate in a day of leadership activities taking place outdoors around the school. Classes will spend the following dates outdoors participating in activities designed to develop skills in leadership, teamwork, communications, problem solving and time management.

This is an excellent opportunity to focus on the development of these skills which are becoming more and more essential in school and beyond and I would urge all pupils to attend the days.

The Parent Council AGM will take place on Wednesday 7th September 16 at 7pm in the Conference Room of Auchinleck Academy.
All parents or carers are invited to attend.
On Monday 20th June a group of 60 pupils from Auchinleck Academy and Cumnock Academy set off to take part in a joint Adventure and Challenge Course at The Outward Bound Centre, Loch Eil near Fort William. This was an excellent opportunity for pupils and staff of both schools to work collaboratively.
The first activity on arrival was jog and dip, a jump into the cold loch in shorts and t-shirt. Over the course of the week the pupils experienced a variety of physical outdoor activities including an overnight expedition including some stunning beach locations. During each activity pupils were actively learning about the Scottish Outdoor Access Code including their responsibility for the natural environment.
The development and progress made by pupils over the week was outstanding. The change in how pupils thought and felt about themselves was important to build their personal, social and emotional skills so they become more effective individuals, whether in school, life or work.
It was a fantastic week and excellent to see Auchinleck Academy and Cumnock Academy pupils working together.
