Thursday 21st September saw Auchinleck Academy, Open boys, host their first Scottish Cup game against Castle Douglas.

The boys started sharply and there were quick baskets from Michael Miller (14 points) and Matthew Morrison (33 points), before Castle Douglas found their shooting boots and started to knock down some 3’s.

The game was close throughout with each team trading baskets at both ends of the floor, and Castle Douglas brought the game to within 3 points before Ben Medhurst stepped up to score a huge basket that was closer to his own end than the oppositions and this gave the home team some breathing room.

From here the boys managed to close the game out, with improved defence from Jordan Mouzer, Ross Marr and Ruairidh Airlie and finished with a victory of 67 points to 57.

That is us now two games down with two wins!

Game 3 will see Auchinleck Academy host Dumfries Academy, where the boys will have another chance to test their skills against another tough opponent.

Thanks to referee Kevin Dorrian for making the journey from Grange Academy and to our girls on the table Ellie Madden and Jade Lindsay who did a great job!
