A Historic Day for Auchinleck Academy
Wednesday 23rd September saw Auchinleck Academy field four full teams on the same day for the first time in its history. Three boy’s teams took part in their Conference fixtures versus Grange Academy an established School of Rugby. The U15 girls’ team took part in South Ayrshire’s tournament. Overall sixty pupils took part further highlighting that Rugby is growing in the school.
S1 School of Rugby side won eleven tries to three in a great display of attacking rugby. Winger James Morrison scored three brilliant tries with Lewis Young scoring four and converting three. S2 Rugby lost narrowly five tries to three and U16 side lost 41-14 in a game were defence was not a player priority. The U16’s now have a Scottish Plate fixture against St Columba’s private school on Thursday 1st October with a 4:30pm Kick Off at Broomfield.
The U15 girls won three out of their four games and played some exciting and expansive rugby. The girls scored twelve tries and conceded only seven which shows that the girls are improving each time they play. The side has been invited to take part in next week’s tournament which will be at Rozelle with a 4pm start
