This week the Dumfries and Galloway Tackling Poverty Reference Group is visiting many of the projects making a difference through Tackling Poverty funding.  One of the projects making massive strides to tackle poverty in the local community is the Scottish Pantry Community Garden in Castle Douglas.

The garden was developed on disused land, and is maintained by volunteers supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council Lifelong Learning service. The volunteers have worked hard to create a productive garden, growing fruit and vegetables for the local community. The fresh produce goes directly to the ‘Stepping Stones’ food bank which benefits many vulnerable people within the Stewartry area of Dumfries and Galloway.

The volunteers are now busy applying for funding to continue their project in the garden next year.
