On Friday I met the Chief Executives of the four local authorities who make up our Regional Improvement Collaborative.

I updated them on a range of matters to assure them of the good progress we continue to make. We discussed: how our workstreams are progressing with our 2021/22 plan; the funding from Government; the forthcoming interviews for seconded officers; the engagement through the social media following; the professional learning (literacy blocks and play pedagogy specifically) and levels of interest from within and outwith the SWEIC; our response to the publication of the Equity Audit and @South-West Connects – the launch of the virtual learning campus and the 126 young people enrolled in Advanced Highers. We talked about the role of the RIC and how it fits best into the busy lives of all who work in schools and central teams. It has to add value, not another layer.

I will meet with them monthly and will share the main matters we discuss within this blog.

If you have points you would like to raise with the seconded officers or questions for me please do. It is an interesting time for Scottish Education and I hope you feel you can get involved with our South West Regional Improvement Collaborative
