We have an exciting new secondment opportunity for a Development Officer (0.4fte) – Children, young people and community engagement

The South West Educational Improvement Collaborative (SWEIC) is a collaboration of four local authorities across the south west of Scotland: Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire. It represents 512 educational establishments, early learning centres, primary, secondary and special schools and over 5000 teachers delivering to over 80,500 children and young people serving both urban and rural communities. The regional collaborative is committed to building capacity across Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire. Our aim is to improve outcomes for learners by offering and facilitating peer to peer, school to school and authority to authority professional learning that is built upon collaboration without borders.

To support this work the SWEIC is seeking to recruit a dynamic, experienced teacher who will work across the SWEIC collaborative workstreams in the role of a development officer- children, young people and community engagement. The purpose of this part time secondment is to engage and consult with stakeholders across Dumfries and Galloway, East, North and South Ayrshire Councils to strengthen our collaborative approaches to support improving educational outcomes for children and young people across the region with a particular focus on wider achievement. At the same time the post holder will support delivery and lead relevant engagement aspects of the SWEIC plan e.g., family learning, poverty awareness, UNCRC, ESOL, digital approaches, wider achievement, and youth voice working with key partners, including parents, children and young people.
